Just wear a mask wherever you go like we do in the Northeast...not that big of a deal. We would never dream of going anywhere in public without one and this will be our life for at least another year, covid vaccines or not ! We are in our 70s and hope to live to see our youngest grand kids get married etc and enjoy another 20 years at least of the good life ! Wearing a hospital mask with maybe a decorative one over it is also recommended - double masking if in close quarters such as a plane or public transport is recommended ! My husband is a retired physician and our daughter is an ER physician - we take this virus seriously !!!

I wear a mask inside buildings that aren't my own, and when I'm in a crowd where I'm unable to social distance.

At the postal centers, if I see someone coming my way, I will turn my head down so as not to breathe in their general direction and if I'm done with getting my mail, will walk as quickly away from the boxes as possible. If I see that I have to pass someone to get away, I'll do it at a distance, OR I will (yes, I really will) go the other way, because 4 steps of inconvenience on my part might save the life of someone else, and I'm okay with that.

It really isn't that difficult, if you will be near someone outside your family/pod/bubble for more than a few seconds then wear a mask. If you are alone in your car or walking down a trail or grabbing your mail, then wearing a mask is helping no one. The virus is contagious but it isn't like childhood cooties, you don't catch it by simply walking past someone. I've seen people step off the sidewalk and into the golf cart lane to avoid walking past me on the sidewalk - the virus is contagious and deadly but not as deadly as being hit by a car.

Some people need to spend more time thinking about when masks make sense and less time demanding others wear masks from the moment they wake up.

if i see someone decked out in protection gear it tells me this person is probably high-risk & i just avoid them. i smile, wave & allow them to pass 1st, then move onto another area altogether until they've gone. basic common sense goes a long way

What difference does it make? I do not understand why the masks are such a big deal with some people. Re: covid 19. Since there is as I understand it a 2 week gestation period not wearing a mask? It is possible your act has killed someone. You would not know. It does not mean you did not kill them.

The fact property is "leased" doesn't make it government or non-government property. I would guess that the majority of local post office BUILDING is on a "leased" property from a non-governmental landlord but the operation itself is definitely "governmental" so the mandate would apply. As for The Villages postal centers, that might require a constitutional amendment.

What difference does it make? He had his photo taken inside a "federal government" building without his mask on right after he signed the unconstitutional order, so why would you care? I don't and won't let it make a difference to me.
As for whether or not you SHOULD wear a mask when getting your mail, if you are outside and distanced from anyone else, use your common sense.

I think your real question is "do I have to wear a mask at my neighborhood postal station." Whether it is mandated in a particular place or not, you should wear a mask when around others not of your household. It's going to be a long time before enough people are vaccinated to give us herd immunity and wearing masks and washing our hands is our best defense until then. It's such a small thing, really. Please do it, to protect yourself and others.

Why NOT just wear your mask because it is the RIGHT thing to do. That is what government leaders and medical experts are saying (for OUR benefit). There is a NEW virus strain with its HUGE viral load that will probably take over in Florida in about a week - it will be more transmissible - more cases will become more DEATHS. Hospitals are suing some patients for their CV stay (if they live).

Vaccines will NOT reach 80% of Americans until around June at best case prediction and Dec by some predictions. So, what are we left with "sports fans". We are left for the next months with masks and social distance. If that does NOT work, then it is BACK to LOCKDOWNS - not back to a normal future. England is MANDATING a SEVERE lockdown and it has NOT STOPPED this NEW variant. So, "sport fans" if you do NOT want a SEVERE lockdown with no nightly square entertainment and no golfing for eagles, then logic says you should moderate your behavior and do NOT even ever question what the medical experts say, "wear the damn mask". As Dick Cheney said, " real men wear masks". Do NOT question V.P. Cheney!!!!!!

That attitude will end up disrupting the going back to normal that is on the verge of happening in a few months with the improved vaccine distribution actions that are planned. Most people want "normal" not lockdowns with no music in the squares, the swimming pools closed, and no more golfing for eagles. PEOPLE - we are on the verge of making "normal" happen, don't screwdriver it up!

Do you wear a mask when you pick up your mail outside, in The Villages...no matter whether or not it is ordered to do so? I live directly in view of our little building and parking lot in Bridgeport at Laurel Valley that has only 54 boxes for 54 homes here in this small village. I see about maybe one in ten people wearing masks to get their mail. We sadly had a death here in our small village this week from Covid-19.

We haven't worn masks to get the mail, but it might need to be reconsidered now that we know that a much more contagious form of this virus is among us. I doubt that anyone will ever check on this...but it is better to be safe than sick.
