I'm on my second preserve site, and the answer is YES. However, I wouldn't trade my pond/preserve view for a cart path, road or golf course ever! The wildlife viewing and peace and tranquility is awesome! It is really bad upon moving into a new build (been there don that twice). Then, over time as they continue to spray it gets better. We can not sit outside the screen after dark, but never have any issues before dusk. Its no problem at all in my opinion.

AFAIK, that's former pasture land/sod farms. All the ponds in that area are man made. Most have bubblers and attract wildlife that helps control insects.

We only see mosquitoes at dusk.

The Eagle Preserve is the one I'm referring to. It is in the middle of the Shallow Creek Championship Golf course.

Glenbrook area, six years in... Only in the past two years, doing day time yard work, ... I am severely getting mosquito bites all over my arms, even though I use repellent...Thinking the powers that be, must be really cutting cutting back on pest control...It has been a very long time, since I have heard the late night mosquito fogger drive by... jus sayin...

The newer the village, the worse they will be. As an area becomes more populated, the spraying will become fairly regular. A villager died of West Nile virus in 2018 after getting eaten up by mosquitos at the Fenney grill fire pit.

Also, do mosquitoes like you? They only like certain types of blood. Mine isn’t one of them. I can be outside and maybe get bitten once while others are being eaten alive. Even if I do get bitten, there’s never any red mark but on others they’ll have tons of little red bite marks. I’m from Leesburg originally, (now in the villages)and have always lived on lakes so mosquitoes have been a part of my life forever. The preserves are the best place to live IMO Screened Lanai or birdcage is there to keep them out.

I have been allergic to mosquito venom my entire life so I’ve had to practice prevention. I try to avoid putting chemical insecticides or repellents on my skin. I avoid taking antihistamines too. I’ve read that most skeeters live & breed very close (with a few yards) of where you were bitten. Whenever I will be walking thru grass or staying outside at dusk, I wear long, light-weight pants tucked into my socks with tennis shoes, a long-sleeved light-weight nylon shirt, and a baseball cap. Treat any standing water at home with Mosquito Dunks or Bits periodically—these are Bt so they kill mosquito larvae but supposedly Bt won’t harm birds, pets or people (though I wouldn’t put it to the test). Keep emptying any water (or treat it) since tiny larvae can thrive in things like plant trays, gutters, drains etc. If all this fails, try spraying your grass & shrubs with a hose-end garden insecticide sprayer, especially before you plan to linger out there. Last but not least, most counties will accept requests for added spraying anywhere there are infestations. The best defense is a good offense!
