Default Sidewalks and Curbside Grass

This relates to dogs pooping on neighbors lawns. I am not yet a resident of The Villages and one of the reasons I hesitate is because homes and roads are built without sidewalks. As we all know some dogs will poop on neighbors lawns instead of their own yards. This will usually cause a neighbor to complain.
If the The Villages had sidewalks would it be as bad to sometimes have to clean up poop on the grass between the sidewalks and the roadway? Rather than a neighbors lawn.
This is a 'springboard' for discussion. Thank you. Marvinh

Suggestion: Seeing as you have been a member on TOTV for about 6 years just do a "poop" search on the forum ("search topic" (IIRC) box in upper right somewhere) and you will find no less than 50 poop topics some as recent as within the last week. ALL your poop questions (and more) will be answered fully. (Assuming this isn't just another troll poop topic of which there have been many! )

Welcome to The Villages .... best place to discuss dog poop!

Edit: Just did a "SEARCH THIS FORUM" for the word "poop" and it came up with 300 topics.

Hi EdFNJ. No, I'm not a troll. I really have been considering moving down. And I think my suggestion about sidewalks would help the situation. But how to get the developer to consider it??

Good to hear! Doubt they will build sidewalks where there aren't any but I am sure someone will tell you who the big poop-pah is to contact.

He has no reason to put in sidewalks. Houses new and old sell very quickly. The roads are narrow and putting in sidewalks and grass would be a huge and expensive undertaking.

It's not as bad as it sounds down here most of the ones that complain are the same ones over and over again and they are most likely the people that have lawn ornaments out in front of their homes. Come on down and join the poop parade, it's fund an it will always be here just like the white crosses and the two ladies with the clip board.

Springboard? We don’t need any to stir up the dog poop posters.
You may want to wait till you buy to start your long list of suggestions……….

Houses are selling in days, demand has increased the value of homes by like 25%. No one is coming down and saying, “if you only had sidewalks, I would buy.” Believe me, if the lack of sidewalks was hurting the sale of new homes, there would be sidewalks. In some of the newer areas, the developer did put in walkways and bike paths - they felt they were needed.

If lack of sidewalks is preventing you from buying, then you won’t be happy here, not matter what.

A lot of the traffic on the non main roads are golf carts, walkers and runners.

In most neighborhoods, the grass next to the streets is NOT owned by the homeowner.
I'm not taking about easements................The actual property line.
Homeowner property line is not the street.

Need to get the street spec's from the county and measure from the center of the street.

As you can see on a Google map, there are very few sidewalks in The Villages.

In Virginia, we had a busy sidewalk in front of our house. If I found any dog crap in our yard, I would put it on the sidewalk. That made me feel much better.

IMHO, if the absence of sidewalks are a huge issue for you, you should stay in the big concrete cities, and tip toe around the turds that are left on the sidewalks...because there is no grass

most of the roads in the United States do not have sidewalks

Is "Springboard" a new euphemism for trolling?

There are only about 140,000 reasonably satisfied folks living in The Villages. If I were you, I'd definitely call "management" and let them know, you might not buy here, because of the sidewalk & poop situation. I'm sure they'll jump right on it!

Take your 401k and give it to the developer to put in side walks.

Ok so your only reason for a sidewalk is to create the little strip of grass between the sidewalk and the curb so that el perro has a place to poop and said pooper will poop there and not on the grass on the other side of the sidewalk? You sir/ ma’am are truly a visionary
