Default Dead is dead

Exactly what is the difference between dead at 20 miles per hour and dead at 40 miles per hour? Perhaps just luck but all of my encounters with police officers have been good. No excuses though. If I have committed an offense, knowingly or unknowingly, then I say thank you and pay the price. These folks are out there doing their jobs enforcing the law not making it. If someone disagrees with the law, then they need to take action to change the law rather tan bitch about.

My husband is still an excellent driver at 80.

Our car is not a beat up Chevy with bald tires. It is kept in excellent repair. My husband trims ALL of the bushes and trees around our lot and replaces sprinkler heads. I am so grateful for his good health.

I want you to tell me how you feel about driving in twelve years.
It's not always about you...

I was not clear.

What I was trying to convey is this. Not too many Villagers drive beat up old chevys with bald tires around here and there are a good many folks in their seventies driving safely. AND MOST of us Villagers truly worry and are very concerned about driving safely and when to stop. We are extremely careful about all other things including our health and that is why such a high percentage of us is vaccinated. We also pay our bills on time, witness the highest overall credit ratings in the country live here. We are good people, most of us.

And also. You too are in your early sixties. You too will learn many things in the coming twenty years, just as you have in the last twenty.

So what? It makes a difference in the scheme of things?

Why do you think you can only learn many things from mid 60s to 80s? Did you wait to change eating habits, exercise differently during those 20 years?
I have been pretty satisfied with all I learned At 60, not sure there is anything That could improve on in the next 20 years. As far as health issues such as cancer or cardiac, many have had those learned lessons in their 30s and 40s.

God bless you Mrs. Graciegirl and I thank you for taking a proactive stance in making an informed for yourself by deciding not to drive due to your own personal circumstances. My point is that there are many "older" & "younger" Villagers who should not be driving and this group of drivers scares me more than anyone who drives a few miles over the speed limit. And the remark about me turning 81 years old in 18 years, may that statement make it straight to gods ears.

There has been increased police traffic enforcement during the weekdays and primarily during the afternoon. I saw some poor guy get pulled over for maybe going 10 - 15 mph over the posted speed limit. I understand he was speeding a little, but really.

Which other areas of our community should I pay special attention when driving? Always be safe and please drive safely.
It's not a 'speed trap'. It's called 'law enforcement'.

It seems that the appropriate way to respond to any reasonable post here it is find some way to misinterpret it so one can come up with a argument.

Roundabouts are perfectly safe, and well engineered.
It's the drivers that are not so safe or well engineered!

I heard a new study found a correlation between speeders in TV and flamingo statues in their front yards.

Also heard there are little old ladies in golf carts with clipboards, who have radar guns. They report to police the areas of increased speeding.

HAHAHA

You keep on saying, 'poor guy.' He was driving a car a priviledge in all 50 states. He CHOSE to disobey the speed limit by 10-15 mph as you say. At what pont should an officer write the ticket over the posted speed limit? Other threads have called for more enforcement for speeding. Police are damned if they do and damned if they don't!

Actually, if you receive a citation, you have been "arrested." You were just released at the scene on your signature, promising to satisfy the citation or appear in court. "Arrested" and "taken into custody" are not always the same thing. One can be taken into custody for any violation, but of course that is generally not practical or necessary. Don't believe me? Next time an officer asks for your signature on a citation, try telling him/her, "to heck with you...I ain't signing that." See what happens.
