Hey all the new bags are in at Publix on 466A. They are under the sign that says "New recycling bags just for the villages."

If someone buys any can you please post the UPC Code.

Since I didn't get to vote on this, so called, recyclying I guess I will just keep taking my papers to St. Timothy's and my aluminum to the post office for the Lions club. At least I won't have pay for some special bag. If the .07 cent rumor is true I also can keep the developer from a little more profit. ;D

I will continue to put my trash out as I always do,and pay my 1.47.
consider it one of the many cost to living in TV.
I doubt very much that TV and publix have a deal going,
These are good forums here on TOTV ,
but also a place for ugly rumors to start.

Flagler residents complain recyclables going into trash

By KARI COBHAM
Staff Writer

PALM COAST -- Every Friday morning, the Waste Pro garbage truck comes rumbling down Rybar Lane.

Ty and Sue Heidelberger ordinarily don't think much of it. Their carefully separated recyclables were out near the curb as required, as was the usual trash, they said.

But one recent Friday morning, the Palm Coast couple said they were aghast to see garbage collectors dumping their neighborhood's plastics, glass and aluminum cans with the rest of the refuse.

I nominate the Village Greens, one of the organizations that's been bitching the most about getting a recycling program imposed on everyone, to ride along with the trash pickup crews every morning to insure that refuse is handled properly. If they don't do this, the temperatures will rise .974 degrees, the oceans will rise, polar bears and seals will become extinct, we'll have sand storms on Cape Cod and hurricanes in Dubuque, and the children will suffer.

The UPC code is 0 12587 70038 9

They are called Glad Tall Kitchen Recycling 13 Gallon Handle-Tie Bags. There are 12 bags to a box and they cost $2.79 plus tax at the Publix on rt 42. That is about $.25 a bag.

I think I proved my point and we can believe the worker who told my wife about the villages collecting on this product. That this is more than a rumor in this thread when I saw the sign at the Publix for GLAD recycling bags today.

Glad has confirmed by correspondence that these bags are new to the market being just made for the public. What I would like to find out is if someone outside the villages area, like NY, MI, PA, or someplace north would tell us if they see these same bags, 13 gallon clear recycling bags. BY GLAD ONLY.

If you look real hard this rumor looks believable as the shelf with Glad trash bags, along with the identifying card made by PUBLIX, points to the bags made for recycling for TV.

Now to the unbelievers I am sorry that you all voted NO but accept your responses. However I read somewhere on this site that TV management owes by a lawsuit $40 million back to the community and tried to only pay back 33+.

If you figure these bags and other things TV have done or are doing to make up the difference this rumor might be more than just a rumor but a fact.

BTW, I have contacted many of our Friends from around USA where we have previously lived and nobody has found this trash bag yet where they shop. They have seen white and larger bags for recycling but nothing like we have for TV.

At .05 cents a bag with 12 per box times approximately 40,000 full-time homes comes close to $ 250K per year and thats just if the residents buy one box per year. If those use 1 bag a week/4 boxes a year where talking 1 million plus. It all adds up members, so why wouldn't TV try to make money at our expense????

Does it sound more believable now?

I am not a lawyer however but couldn't a lawyer bring a class action suit against TV by forcing us residents to pay for a special type of bag thats only used for TV and investigate this rumor of GLAD, PUBLIX and TV collecting fees from it.

Many others have sued for less.

Please add your thoughts?

Thought it absurd then. Think it absurd now. Will likely think it absurd in the future. However, if you'd like to go ahead with your class action lawsuit, you'll likely find some assistance at http://poa4us.org/

My daughter is a manager at Publix and she said this is so dumb it doesn't deserve a comment. They order a pallet of these bags and they are gone in one day. They are sometimes available at other stores in The Villages. The reason the bags are so hard to find is that no other town/village in the U.S. would recycle with clear plastic bags. They use recycle bins! Sorted or not, but a bin, not a plastic bag. They have been doing this in Lady Lake for a LONG time. Yes, with bins. Little green bins. I'll start recycling when the bins arrive! I'm not buying their stupid plastic bags. This makes about as much sense as the paper bags you have to use for yard clippings! ;D

If you think it's absurd why post any comment at all. Your first post wanted this thread pulled anyway. However look how many views it's received.

BTW, I did not say I would sue so I don't need your link, but thanks just them same.

I will quote you, or at least someone pretending to be you:

"I am not a lawyer however but couldn't a lawyer bring a class action suit against TV by forcing us residents to pay for a special type of bag thats only used for TV and investigate this rumor of GLAD, PUBLIX and TV collecting fees from it.

"Many others have sued for less.

Are we to interpret that as add your thoughts if you agree? I thought it absurd and added my thoughts.

I've never expressed any view that the thread be pulled. I viewed it as an unfounded rumor and nothing more. I attempted to demonstrate the unlikelyhood of it being true. As to pulling the thread, I'd be adamantly against such action. Regardless of the speciousness of a position, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and it's often fun to discuss them. Evidently a lot of people agree.

No, you did not say that you planned to sue, but your did broach the subject, stating that such a suit was viable. The link was to the most recent or most publicized successful suers in case you or someone else decided to do so. If not, you're free to ignore it.

I stand corrected it was not you but someone else who wished this thread pulled.

In the Villages Daily Sun article http://www.thevillagesdailysun.com/a...villages02.txt
it was stated that clear plastic bags must be used, and that when full, they need to weigh less than 30 lbs. There was no mention of any particular brand, size, etc. I went to SweetBay and asked customer service there, and they gave me their brand of clear bags.
