Default Is it easier to get a weekly rental in Sept. or March?

My wife and I just returned from a 9 day trip to TV and we loved it. We rented on our own through VIR Realty. We're hoping to return for a week this Sept. 2017 and also in March 2018. We plan to rent on our own for one of the trips and then do the Lifestyle program for the other visit.

Therefore is it easier to find a weekly rental on our own in Sept., rather than in March? if so, we're thinking we'd do the Lifestyle visit in March and let TV provide our rental.

The winter rental (snowbird) season starts in October and kicks into high gear in January and ends in April. So March would be in the peak of high season, most rentals in TV are going for $3500 or more per month at that time. September would still be the off season and possible rentals for as low as $800 - $1000 for say a patio villa.

September is also a great time for visiting the theme parks in Orlando. School is back in session, the snowbirds haven't arrived, and the summer heat isn't quite as bad.

More choices in September. We are renting this summer while our house is being built. Outside of the first four months of the year, most of the potential rentals I looked at were totally open the rest of the time. I used vacation rentals. This allows you to shop for price, location etc.

Be sure to check AirBnB. They seem to have weekly rentals throughout the year. If you're planning a Lifestyle visit in March, book it soon --they fill up quickly.

Definitely easier to rent weekly in September. March is a prime month and typically is booked a year in advance.

If interested, my home is available for a weekly rent in September. $650 per week. It is a 2/2, 1400 sq ft and a very short ride to Spanish Springs Village square.

I'll be glad to give you more detail and photos if you are interested.

Like others have said, September is a an easy month to rent for a week or two. I am renting for 8 days this coming September.

Usually VillagersHomes4Rent.com works for me...but not for my upcoming rental. A couple of weeks ago I emailed one landlord - never heard from him. I called another landlord and left a message on her voice mail -- never heard from her.

Then I tried v r b o . c o m (leave out the spaces in between the letters), and the first landlord I emailed called me back within 24 hours, and my rental for September on the Historical Side is booked.

So I am not discounting VillagersHomes4Rent.com, it just didn't work for me this time. It could work very well for you as it has for me in the past.

As far as airbnb goes, I did use that site when I stayed in The Villages for a couple of days this past New Year's weekend. It was my first time using airbnb, and I was happy with how the rental turned out. That site may also work for you. it seems to cater to the shorter stays (2 weeks and less).

And sorry to go off topic, but just a rant...if you are a landlord, be professional and return a prospective tenant's email or phone call, even if you cannot rent your home to that person for whatever reason. Just my two cents.

Good luck finding a rental in September. I am already counting the days until I return!

Over half of my guests thank for me for the prompt response. Typically, two hours or less. That said I don't bother anymore responding to inquiries for a stay when it is something that is clearly stated I can't or won't agree to, i.e. Pets or a one week rental when I am renting by the month. Overall guests should keep in mind that most owners are just like them and can generally afford to let the home go unrented. So a lowball offer won't be well received.

As far as the two landlords I contacted earlier this month that did not respond back, both homes were listed as available to rent weekly in September. I have never haggled price with a landlord when renting in The Villages. I have always paid the rental price listed in their online ad. And I leave my cat at home when I come to The Villages. My cat is in charge of guarding the house in Illinois when I am gone

September is a great month to rent and most homes are generally available. If interested, I have a Cabot Cove Patio villa between Lake Sumter Landing & Brownwood, just north of 466A. It rents by the day with a 1 week minimum. There are several rental options depending upon your needs. I have used HomeAway/**** for the past 5 years & always respond within 24 hours, even if already rented. If interested, please contact me with any questions. You will not be disappointed. Renting in a neighborhood will always get you a more rewarding experience than the Villages Lifestyle program.
