Villager arrested in road rage shooting

A 67-year-old Villages motorcyclist was arrested Thursday after he allegedly blocked in a vehicle with help of a fellow motorcyclist and then fired shots into the car during a road rage incident, according to Lady Lake police.

John Augustine Bibas, whose mugshot show tattoos of a sword with a bloody tip and a skeleton holding an axe, was charged with shooting into or throwing deadly missiles. He was released from the Lake County jail after posting a $10,000.

According to an arrest affidavit, Bibas and another motorcycle were traveling being the car headed east on County Road 466 in Lady Lake. The driver told police that Bibas kept tailgating him while trying to pass.

At some point, the motorcyclist rode on the center divider and cut between the victim’s car and another vehicle and then passed him as the other motorcycle stayed behind.

The report adds that Bibas then suddenly put on his brakes in front of the car, causing it also to stop. Then the other motorcyclist then allegedly pulled up behind the car, which prevented the victim from backing up.

The victim told police he began to honk -- only for Bilas to pull out a gun and shoot the car.

The victim added he was able to turn his wheel hard and drive off and to the Recreation Plantation RV Resort where he called police.

Police said they spotted what appeared to be two bullet holes in the car and officers later found Bilas on Lake Ella Road and arrested him.

What a sweet couple the 2 motorcyclists make. The guy should not have been released on bond. He has proven himself to be am immediate danger to the community.

I'e ridden bikes with many guys and gals in the past. Thankfully none have risen to the level of idiocy that Mr Bibas displayed.

I recently bought a dash camera that runs in a continuous loop when the car is on. If the person in the car had one they would have had video proof of what happened.
This is a popular device in many countries and I'm told some insurance companies give a discount if you have one in your car.
I would suggest that the person that was shot at also consider a civil suit on the shooter.

I agree. Just another incident to tarnish TV, and people here who ride motorcycles. I have been around many motorcycle people, and my husband is a Harley fanatic. We have rode all over the country and not once have we run across a man like this. I hope he goes to jail for a long time.

That would be the route I would take after the courts have done with him.

I believe the sex guy had a VOP. (Violation of Probation)

In Florida, there is never an availability to Bond Out when there is VOP.

Take a step back can you hear the song "The Vil lages ........ As advertised it is made to appear pristine, a shan ri la, utopia for those with the money to buy a ticket. Its the equivalent of stick your chin out daring someone to take their best shot. Its like being the most popular girl in school perfect teeth perfect hair perfect figure everyone fussing over you.............suddenly a blemishes pops and the world attacks.

Make sure that you all read the other news site updates to the comments. There are a group with a totally different side to this story and claims the reporters were totally wrong and misleading. I'd love to really know what happened. Some there are saying the man was actually attacked by the car. Sounds weird all around to me.

If a tattooed biker and his friend had me blocked in, I might try to escape too.....Even if it meant running over the person who had me blocked. I would be very fearful for my Saftey.

Lots of truthful comments in this thread..

Happy Employee.. you got it right except add an (s) to your answer for shot fired.

I fully support the second Amendment and also Right to Carry.. but we just hate this type of person.... his life was not in danger but he in fact put the driver of the vehicle in fear of their life or lives. The Motorcycle to the rear was also a large factor in this case and could also be charged and most likely will.

Come on Concealed Carry, people clean up your act or we the law abiding carry believers will eventually lose our rights should these type of actions continue.. You know dam well you should not have even think about shooting in this situation... you in fact put your own self in a life situation.

You know dam well your life was not at stake here but the vehicle driver had the right to take yours...you pulled a gun and left him/her no way to escape or drive away..

We may never know the facts in this case.
Do we even know he HAD a permit to carry?
Could it be true, what someone said in the online news, that the car driver attempted to back over him?
I won't judge someone based on a small article, until the facts are out.

I read the lengthy comment earlier. It certainly describes a totally different scenario. I think everyone should withhold judgment until you know what exactly happened.

Not to worry, the word police "eliminated" the whole discussion from the lady and others. Now the thread really makes no sense. I'm wondering what is being covered up? If the facts are as shown in this thread are accurate, and the second party was blocking the motorists escape, then why weren't charges filed?
Even worse, is the blatant censorship displayed there and elsewhere. Even though I don't agree with the dissenting opinion, that person's opinion or side needs to have a venue in this court of public opinion. It really is unfair to have that kind of power where only one side is expressed and I believe is very dangerous to society as we know it.
