Wow, is that a weird perspective! I was going straight (my arrows, straight or left) she in the right lane turning left (her arrow straight) Get it???

SHE made the illegal left turn, as her insurance co. had to admit. I guess I didn't explain myself clearly enough. Have a good day and stay out of the roundabouts! Puh-lease!

Default Roundabout Brochure

My suggestion for those owners who rent their homes is to print this brochure for your
renters and leave it in a kitchen drawer and some visible place.
The District Center, 3201 Wedgewood Lane - 753-4508 - has brochures.

Hope this helps

It would be a good start to solving the issue if SCSO and FHP would get together on how to interpret the rules. The Sheriff's Office name is on the brochure but it sounds like they don't support the guidelines listed in the pamphlet.

Another good idea would be to have it included in the package of materials given with your passes at the sales office. No matter who you rent through you have to go there to get your resident passes and they give you a package that includes a lot of information, including how to book a tee-time, info on the Lifestyle Expo and subscription information for The Sun.

I prepare a welcome package for my renters. Along with info about the "fun stuff," I include both this brochure and one about golf cart safety.

Default The Law

Does the brochure usurp the law that allows crossing a broken white line to enter the left lane.

Put speed bumps just prior to entry and they will either slow down or screw up the vehicle.

bogie , good idea about putting a brochure with guest passes and new resident packages. as i've said before i love the rab's and if you stagger and watch any car on your right (if you are in the left lane) you will never have a problem....gn

The arrows in my lane (left) pointed to a left turn or straight. While the arrows in her lane (right) pointed straight ahead. So, I was baffled when the policeman did not issue her a ticket. She had clearly rammed into me!!!

Now those of you on this board that know me, know I had quite a few choice words for her and the cop. He was very polite and handed us both brochures. What! A brochure! Really???? She clearly made an illegal left hand turn! I pointed the arrows out to him, which he replied were "only a suggestion". OMG! How nuts is that????

Well, when it came to insurance time, I was completely vindicated. The woman's insurance had to pay they said "because of the police report!" I was very happy, as she kept saying I hit her. The only way I could have hit her is if I was driving sideways!!! hahah! Anyway, I'm very leary in the roundabouts now and thank you to the officer (for putting up with my rage) and writing out the accident report correctly.

Hope this wasn't the same person as your "X". We had $1865.00 in damages, but at least HER insurance company had to pay it!
Congrats on getting paid for the damages the other car caused. However can you please ask or when you get your new insurance bill if they increased your premium because of the incident. Reason I ask is a couple years ago I merely reported an incident to my carrier to protect myself in case the other party tried to file a false claim. Well 4 months later my policy increased by 25%. No false or any claim was filed. Yet they increased it as a result of my reporting was the response the agent told me.

After reading this entire post last Monday night, today, I conducted a purely unscientific survey of the roundabout crisis. I parked my cart in front of the Savannah Center, in full view of the Buena Vista, El Camino Real roundabout. I made my observations during a 15:00 minute period this morning. During this time period, 28 vehicles, in succession, used the outside lane to traverse the 270* route from southbound Buena Vista to El Camino Real.

5 vehicles used the inside lane to make the same journey.

Oddly, 1 of these 5, severely cut across, in front of a car that just entered the roundabout from northbound Buena Vista.

It is my finely tuned observation, that the 28 vehicles, using the outside lane caused no saftey concerns at all. I now believe that the roundabouts should be of one lane.

Does not have to be one lane, just get rid of the lines. They are the confusion factor as even the lines are not consistent between round abouts here in The Villages. Good job on your analysis.
