Aren't we all glad that "they" are the minority who annoy or amuse the other 98% of us?

And as per the usual the 2% is discussed or presented as if it were a general condition.

It's impossible to laugh at impatience, you were laughing at the people who were impatient. Now THAT'S rude.

None of us are perfectly behaved at all times, thank heavens.
But if I were breaking a "rule" and inconveniencing people, I wouldn't complain about others who were annoyed at my behavior.

I agree. The person was just blowing off steam. Leave them alone. We all have those days when we feel everyone we run into is plain rude.

This is not the family dinner table. Any internet poster needs to accept his or her opinion will be challenged.

I believe there is a lot of this here. Many don't know how to use the circles when driving and their confusion leads to those who know getting upset. Then we have the natural angry person and the villager's are not all "happy people". A very good illustration of this are the posters to the OP's complaint and are the ones who try use it as an excuse to voice wise cracks, awful humor, and just being rude. Doing this is a fact that the persons are angry and release this anger through attempts at putting someone down. What is ironic is that the person is part of the rude being discussed and my bet is most are year around residents as are we. OP was not respectful to begin with. She set the tone by saying she was laughing at others in line (secretly or otherwise) and blasting other people who felt inconvenienced, while failing to see the irony in what she herself was doing. I see nothing wrong with pointing that out.

After all, if you're going to dish it out, you ought to be able to take it. And that's a mighty big blanket statement about people using humor and wise cracks being angry. I don't think it's safe to say that at all.

I think people who perform acts of rudeness have the mentality of entitlement. I would guess, my opinion only, that if someone did the same rude act to them they would be upset....even tho it was ok for them to do it. I have started commenting to rude people in the hopes they will change. I feel that I have no right to complain if I don't try to change things.

That's OK. Personally I find myself posting a lot of dangling participles.
No, Tom, it's not OK for you to find them
