Default Are the rules strictly enforced?

Since The Villages has very dense housing, I assume there are rules to make sure homeowners behave responsibly. Are these rules enforced?

For example, I assume there are leash laws for pets and there are laws against homeowners creating too much noise, such as having outside music that can be heard inside a neighbors home.

Are there any similar laws that come to mind?

If you go here; VCDD Deed Compliance - Sumter County

you can read the deed restrictions. How they are reported and enforced.

Thanks for the useful post. I read about the deed restrictions, but I could not see where it discussed the enforcement of leash laws or noise ordinances.

Do you know of anyone who has had trouble with neighbors creating these problems and how they got them resolved?

The "rules" or "laws" are complaint driven.

No complaint no problem.

There are some posts that are just ripe for good hearted humor. It may also be representative of the subject be a non issue or problem.

Some just fit the flyspecks in the pepper category.

I don't know if there are leash laws per se, but most responsible owners always keep their pets on a leash. That prevents then becoming a nuisance to the neighbors, using yards for their toilets and exposing dogs from attacks by other dogs or gators. There are dog parks that allow dogs to run unleashed. Life here is complaint driven. Complaints to Community Standard or the police usually happen when one neighbor disrespects the other neighbors or blatantly ignores the deed restrictions. While we are individual property owners, our properties impact the look and value of the neighborhood.

Default Here is a thread on deed restrictions from a couple years back.

TV Restriction Violations

If you go to search in the above tool bar and type in Deed Restrictions you will find a wealth of information that are not jokes.

Sumter county does have leash laws, but, certain people feel as though they are exempt. My neighbor is one. I contacted community standards, and animal control, hasn't made a difference. The dog still is not leashed, and let out to roam free in our backyards. Also, the deposits usually don't get cleaned up.

That is absolutely horrible!!

Here in Fairfax County VA, leash laws are taken very seriously and strictly enforced. We never see an unleashed dog. Almost everyone cleans up what their dogs leave behind.

Our daughter and her husband had a neighbor whose dog crapped in their yard, so they complained to the police and the police warned the neighbor to stop doing it. They stopped.

What do you plan to do make sure your inconsiderate neighbor stops using your yard as a dog bathroom?

So leash laws are a County Enforcement issue, not A Villages issue?

See the Thread entitled:
"It's not the dog, it is the owner issue"

Yes, I looked at all of the posts in that thread and they were very upsetting. It is obvious the OP has a serious problem with another owner letting his dog violate his living space and there no local authority that will help him.

This is very different than life here in Fairfax County, where the police took an active role in stopping another homeowner from letting his dog defecate in our daughter's yard.

I thought The Villages would have a very active community authority to make sure its rules are followed. I guess the answer to the question I asked in my OP is "No".
