I was thinking of applying until you said that. BUT, if Gracie will...I will.

They can't believe that we have had this growth and most of it in the last eight years. i am thinking that the closest Rooms to go is in Ocala. How dumb is that? Same with Steinmart.

Kirklands and Kohls and TJMaxx got the picture. We just need to be swamping Publix Corporate with emails for another store on 466A. I am told that the one at Colony is their highest grossing store in the chain and takes in more than a million dollars a week!

We are an amazing secret if you ask me. The people who do demographics for corporate growth all must have lost their jobs because of the economic downturn.

Here is a contact link for Publix...https://www.publix.com/contact/SendUsAMessage.do

I was told by a Sweetbay Manager that they aren't going to build on 466a but down closer to Brownwood. It will not open for a year or two. By that time we will have had to use shoehorns to get people into and out of Colony Publix. I have to work up the courage to go there it is so crowded.

Default Where is there to go in Fruitland park?

These carts do not need to be street legal.
Where is there to go in fruitland park that does not involve driving on 441/27? I guess there is the new Bab B Que place they having been building forever.

Are golf carts to be allowed to cross 441 to get to Fruitland Park? Good heavens!

After 2 years + I've never really had a problem with Publix in Colony being too crowded except around holidays. I usuallly go around mid-day and both during the week and weekends. I don't recall having more than 3 in front of me in the checkout lines.

I go to Publix at 8 in the morning and never have to wait. Everything is open at that hour, the deli, the bakery, the seafood etc., and there's a better selection because everything has just been put out.

They can't build a space if they don't have interest from commercial entities to lease the space. They are not in the "build it they will come business". Sweetbay, for instance, had a space ready to go near the library but thought better of it and instead have a space ready to build near Brownwood. The rumors are that a big box store or two (heard Dillards and Home Depot) are interested in that large commercial spot to the west of Brownwood on 44.

I don't understand how anyone can make a decision to build where they did and then bitc*** about it. When we all purchased in Buttonwood, or St. James, or Sanibel etc. we knew the landscape. Personally I have no issues. I don't mind the 7 mile ride to Walmart or the 3 mile ride to Sweetbay or the 5 mile ride to Publix etc. etc.

On the other hand think of how many executive golf courses we have (at least from my house) within 2-3 miles. I count 11 (not including the 2 new ones next to the library on 466A)! Plus 2 championship in that same distance with two others only another mile or so. It all depends on your priorities.

Default Heard A Couple Farmers Talking At Sparr's Farm 'n Fleet...

Talk of a pig farm going in on the undeveloped land just east of Colony Plaza shopping center, behind the nursery area where they grow plants for The Villages.

Aww, c'mon. Laugh a little.
