Default Samsung Refrigerator Ice Makers

Ice maker icing outside of ice bucket. Caused interruption in ice making.

Called a highly recommenced repair guy. He felt this type of ice maker a problem and refused the job.

He said he referred a company (A & E) to his aunt and she was satisfied.

I called A & E. They told me it would cost $99 just for the diagnostics. told them I had already knew what was wrong with it. Set an appointment with a window of 8:00 AM to 12noon. the repair guy showed up at 3:00PM.

The repair guy shot a laser to gauge the refrigerator and freezer temperature and said they were accurate. He removed the ice tray but did not inspect the ice maker

From then on he was on his computer. I asked if he had the parts to replace/repair. He said no he had to order the part. He then went back to his computer and told me that with the diagnostic, part and labor the cost would be $325.26 BUT IF we purchased their warranty he would take 50% off that price. He had two programs $49.9 per month , $59.99 per month for all our electric appliances. I replied that in just 10months we would have already paid $490+ ( repair only $325.26)and so rejected the warranty.

the repair guy went back to his computer and saying he forgot the labor codes?????and the cost was going to be $545. My wife an amiable expressive came out of her chair and in a polite but firm voice told him to leave.

I called Samsung and stopped at the store of purchase.

A & E is one of the repair companies Samsung has authorized to do their work A & E is really Sears.

Samsung speculated that our problem may well rest with the ice bucket (storage tray) which ranges from $104 to $150.

Samasung refrigerators has three different types of trays One has a handle to insert fingers and pull out. the other two you have to lift the tray at the bottom then pull out. Of the latter two one has a snap bracket that ensures a tighter seal and the other does not.

I'll fiddle with the tray a bit and if it doesn't work order a new tray

How would we describe A & E? We were left with an uncomfortable feeling but do not and will not draw judgment one way or another. Is there a business connection to the repair guy that recommended A & E. don't know?

Sorry for creating a new thread but the thread having relevance here is closed and I do not know how to reopen it.

What is the freezer temp? I had to set mine to -6 degrees. Do you have a digital readout on the front of the door?

All Samsung and many other icemakers that are in the "Refrigerator" section instead of the freezer section will have problems. There are no fixes or replacements that will fix it. Just chip out the ice every week and make do. Or buy a refrigerator where the ice maker is in the freezer compartment.

my GE profile which i moved to the garage has the ice maker in the refrig section and I had no problems??????
What you suggest makes sense and i agree there are no fixes except to replace the refrig. its one reason I have not moved on this problem

We have a Samsung French Door Refrigerator/Freezer that we paid a lot of money for and it has given us problems from the day we bought it from Sears. The Ice maker is in the Freezer section. When we try to get ice cubes out of the ice maker, it shoots a lot of small pieces of ice cubes all over the floor. We have never been able to get "regular size" ice cubes out of it. Even though they are small pieces of ice cubes, it shoots large amounts out at one time...so it is a huge mess to clean up the floor. We try to use a bowl to catch the ice as it is shooting out, but most of the time the motor just keeps shooting them out. We have had the service people out numerous times and they can not fix it. One repairman replaced the ice maker. Same problem, didn't change it at all. The last one said that there is nothing wrong with the ice maker, it is just a poor design. We tried dealing directly with Samsung, but got no where. Finally gave up and just live with it. Just don't understand how they could screw up an ice maker. Refrigerator ice makers have been around for decades and I have always had good luck with them...never had one that was a problem. So, why is it that a a big successful company like Samsung can't get it right! and, won't do anything to correct it.

Excuse me but i try to find humor in most things and so, I am playing out your scenario in my mind and it would make a great Lucille Ball comedy skit

I hope you folks find a solution to your problem

When I bought our Samsung, I bought the french door with 2 ice makers. Bottom one is ok. Top one I had repair people out 5 or 6 times. I had bought the extended warranty. They sent me a check for what I paid. I also, bought all samsung kitchen appliances and have had trouble with them all. I can only blame myself. I had a remodeling business and dealt with one appliance store and was warned that samsung with the work appliance to buy. I didn't listen. Costly mistake.

My brother had the same problem...with six repairs. Last tech said it could not be fixed. He had a contract with A&E...they are giving him a new fridge.

We have had our Samsung refrigerator for a bit over two years. The ice maker is in the refrigerator section. We have not experienced any issues. For the posters with problems how old were your refrigerators/ice makers?

You don't have to spend a bundle on a appliance to get one that won't ruin your day. This site has helped me many times. I think it costs about $6.95 if you cancel it before 1 month passes.

We also did an extensive consumer research before buying.

The only complaint concerning Samsung kitchen appliances was with the top of the line dishwasher.

My wife ran into the Samsung representative at our store of purchase. He claimed the problem with the dishwasher was overstated and that people were not sliding the top stacking shelf properly and it caused leaks.

My wife replied that if she had to worry about the position of the top stacking shelf every time she loaded a cup, dish, etc she didn't want it. we purchased their second best and so far no problems

I pose the question what happened to the Maytag man?

We have appliance warranty with Broward. They will repair or replace bad appliances except Samsung and LG. Our Samsung top fridge ice maker was not working. They came out twice and added more insulation to it and now it works great. So try having a repair company add insulation to the ice maker in the fridge. It seemed to solve the problem after the second round of extra insulation.
