Assuming the proper approvals, your neighbor has a right to develop his property. You do not have a right to your picturesque view. Want a nice view that is guaranteed for the future? Purchase the property yourself.

Manufactured Home - The term "Manufactured Home" was conceived by the Mobile Home manufacturers and dealers in the late 1970's in an attempt to destigmatize the "mobile home" and increase sales. A Manufactured Home is a mobile home and is not the same as a Modular House! Removing the hitch and axles does not suddenly transform a mobile home into a Modular House.

Over 55 or under 55, Florida has a PROBLEM of the population growth ALWAYS exceeding the roads to handle the bigger population. And roads are just one obvious downside to RAPID population growth. Government services, Police, and other services will be spread thin. The older middle class in this area will be the BIG loser.

The obvious question is......do lower wage workers bring ANY problems with them into a "so-called" over-55 community. If retirees wanted to live close to the younger population, they would have moved to Orlando or Tampa. But, they EXPECTED a certain lifestyle from a large over-55 community like The Villages.

With all due respect…this smacks of “I have my little piece of heaven. Now everyone else stay away”.

The fear is, the little piece of heaven will be Orlando in 5 years....... it's certainly headed in that direction.

The question is if it is POSSIBLE to have GROWTH without undermining the good qualities of the current lifestyle here. That is what residents are worried about.

I'm not against someone developing their property, I do have a problem with how it's developed. You can't put a size 10 foot in a size 6 shoe and expect to walk without problems.
Lake County does not allow for this type of development for what it is, so the idea is to rezone and annex the land to circumvent the system to do it anyway...that is the issue. 3, 5, 10 acre lots with reasonable modest homes yes, I'll be for that all day long, 800 manufactured homes and 34 other buildings to go with it, I'm not so sure. This is happening all around the Town of Lady Lake. Just look at the Zoning WEB Site and see the number of requests for rezoning and annexations being requested all of them for changing agricultural land over to medium density housing. They are putting 100 homes on five acre lots thats where the other 10,000 people are going right in the 466 area. Walmart is trying to squeeze in also and are taking down large mature canopy oak trees that are near 200 years old. Do we really need another Walmart?, there are already 3 in a five mile radius. |

We'd better raze the Historic section while we're at it, as we don't want cheap housing in "our" neighborhood. |

I still don't see the additional 7,400 approved homes or the 10,000 proposed homes.
