Wondering whether there is any sanctioned "water / sewer" pipe Insurance available here in The Villages?
In CT, my town had a sanctioned provider of such insurance, "SafetyValve" and excavation / replacement of failing pipes was covered for a reasonable annual cost. |

In my experience, insurance policies for sewer pipes are not worth buying. If you have a sewer pipe failure within your house, your homeowners insurance will cover the cost to tear up and replace the floor to gain access to the broken sewer pipe. Outside the house, you have a 4-inch plastic sewer pipe that runs to the street and connects to a manhole. You would only be responsible for repairing the pipe that is located on your property. Most houses do not have a safety valve on the property. Excavating and repairing a plastic pipe in the front yard is not really a very expensive project. I don't know if insurance is available, but I don't think it would be a good investment.

I have that additional coverage through State Farm. It is not very expensive and worth the coverage. My agent had a client who was not covered and complained, and now that agent recommends to all to include that coverage. So if you have State Farm, you need to pay for the extra coverage for "back-up of sewer or drain".

I think the OP is referring to a separate insurance policy that will pay the cost to repair a broken sewer pipe on your property. It is sold by a separate company and it is not part of your homeowners policy. It is not worth the cost. Last edited by retiredguy123; 11-19-2023 at 09:47 AM. |
