Wendy..please don't say that or even think it. We will all have a reason to disagree with another's point of view sometimes and some people do it diplomatically and some people do it sarcastically and some people do it with humor. There isn't any way short of not communicating that we will always agree.

There have been times when I viewed something in one way, but after seeing a lot of people had valid views the other way, it changed my mind.

The OP has no idea how much many of us love this place and I am sure he is confused by our reactions to this matter. We are usually all set to smile and nod when someone has completed their lifestyle visit and enjoyed hearing them rave about how pretty and clean and big this place is and how much there is to DO.

It has been mumbled under the breath of staunch supporters that the Morse business could use a shot in the arm when it comes to the computer part. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see that soon they will be tops in that area too.

It used to be that lifestyle visits were sometimes in the homes of people who allowed the villages to use their places for rentals and some snowbirds don't have internet access except when they are here.

It also is sometimes hard to convey emotion when we are posting and sometimes how a thing is written will just strike us wrong and make us annoyed.

To the OP, try us all again. This truly is pretty close to the friendliest place I have ever lived.

A lifestyle visit with internet in the villas would IMHO indicate that internet service was included in the price of your property. It is not; we pay our own or go without. This is the lamest excuse I have ever heard. There has to be a "the rest of the story" here.

If anyone would NOT buy due to the OMG there is no WIFI in my rental would likely be a constant complainer. I suggest a condo in South Beach Miami for someone with such class and sensitivity. We have too many "It's all about ME" folks already.

Maybe he should have spoken to his salesperson while still here. His problem could have been solved with an air card.

I'm thinking TV doesn't provide WIFI because it's not needed, especially by a person who makes their living off the internet.

I think we're all being PUNKED.

YES - just came back on to say that I think this is a hoax and if it is it worked really well. After all it's hot enough to fry eggs on the sidewalk, it's too hot to play golf or pickleball, and unless this is your "club" day there is not much to do other than to sit in front of the boob tube or the computer ................ We've all got our knickers in a twist, we're at each others throats accusing each other of being mean and the one thing that gets us all stirred up is to have someone say something negative about TV - the perfect storm has been created. Somewhere there is probably a nasty little teenager (or even one of us) having one hell of a good time at our expense!

Agree with Patty, this is a gotcha job.

I agree. It was a downside to the design time as well.

Now, Now.

Was up there 6/1 - 6/8 for an LSV.
Must admit I was not happy with no access to the internet.

Mostly wanted to check out floor plans etc.

I have no doubt that the purpose is to get you to enjoy the lifestyle of TV. See what it is like and THAT will sell you.

Was it inconvenient? YES.
Was it THAT bad - guess not - we bought !!!!

If I made my living "on the internet", I certainly would not want to be dependent on a hotel's Internet connection to conduct important business transactions.
I do not even check my bank account balance using an unfamiliar internet server, mainly because I would have no idea how secure such a connection
would be.

Hi,

With the exception of having to drive over to a recreation center to answer emails, the trip was nice and informative. For some people the idea of not having access to the internet may not be a big problem. For many, many others it is unacceptable.

If we did not have a friend with us to we would have locked the doors and went to the Waterfront Hotel. Our friend and collogue, Dr. Damon lost total interest in buying a home. His thoughts were that if they can not provide something as simply as internet, what else would they skimp on.

Here was a man that could've taken out his checkbook and purchased a home on the spot.

Me and Brenda are still interested in the Villages, but think you might do one of three things.

First, offer free internet.

Second option, offer internet at an additional charge. Many large hotels do this.

The very lease make certain that people renting from you know upfront that if they need the interenet they must leave their home or Vila and drive to a different location.
I guess you missed the point of why you were at the villages: to preview how you might be able to spend the rest of your lives enjoying the benefits of an active adult community. If the only reason you didn't buy or your friend didn't buy was "no internet access" , then you really are grasping for excuses not to be here..

You'll find a lot of folks on TOTV that have complaints about TV, the developer, the trains, the wastewater treatment plant, kissing lanais, snowbirds, crowds, bugs(love or otherwise), IRS lawsuits and there are lots of folks that want more house for the money, more seclusion, bigger yards, less deed restrictions than you can get in TV. But I can't remember anyone deciding this place wasn't for them because of no internet during the LSV. Hope they find what makes them happy. I did.
...yeah that was well said!

Well spoken. TV does "everything" so well that I would expect WiFi and would be unhappy to be without Internet during the week. As in your case, it wouldn't be a deal breaker but just an unexpected disappointment. Most of us would handle it a little better than the Doc ----I would have spent some time in Barnes & Noble had some coffee at Starbucks and some food at Panera and adapted quite well to the situation.

I agree with you, justjim. But there is no substitute for being able to come home after a loooooooooong day of house viewing, get in your jammies, relax, and review house plans and listings in the comfort and privacy of your rooms. Or skype your kids to tell them what's going on in privacy. I too thought it was a bit byzantine that internet was not in the LSV accommodations. This would be such an easy fix. There's almost nowhere "hotel-like" these days that doesn't include internet, free or paid.

Friends of ours had to go to a rec center to skype, and the internet connection was spotty. Not everyone has a smart phone with a hot spot, or an air card.

I think I'd be seriously ticked off with no internet in my house/room, whatever. Yes, I could use my phone but it's a small screen, hard to type on and downright inconvenient. Yes, I could go to a WiFi spot, but why should I have to in this day and age?

That so many of you belittled the OP is inexcusable. You should all be ashamed of yourselves! So what if you think it was a petty reason to not purchase? The doctor had the right to decide what was important and probably decided that if the developer was cheap here, he would be cheap in other areas. The OP is still on the fence but I wouldn't be surprised if this thread would totally turn him off to TV and all of the good and great things here.

If you don't like the thread, either be an adult and respond politely in disagreement or say nothing. There is absolutely no need for the pettiness shown here. (And feel free to blast me, I'm a big girl and can take it. I am truly sick of seeing threads like this.)

our realtor drove us to the savannah center so we could print out our boarding passes. this was in august 2008. am glad that such a trivial incident turned these potential newbies off. no telling what might have happened if they had actually moved here, but am sure that a few threads would be filled with their whining.
