WOW - have to agree with the OP - not providing internet in this day and age is ridiculous. Saying that was the reason I didn't buy is a bit over the top, but so many of us now depend on the internet for our day to day lives I don't think it is reasonable to expect someone to change their daily habits 'cause internet is not provided. Whenever we rented before we bought I always asked if internet was provided. Come on it is 2013 and internet is as important as a phone. If nothing else I need to check my accounts to be sure my identity hasn't been stolen or my bank account emptied! And no, I don't have an Ipad with an air card and don't like using my smart phone 'cause the screen is too small - still stuck with my laptop that needs and old fashioned connection.

I too use the internet for my business, and I always check wherever I am staying BEFORE we go to make sure that I have online access. The OP had a responsibility to check himself prior to booking if it was that important to him and his business. He shouldn't have assumed....You know what they say about that...it makes a A_ _ out of u and me

Internet used to be extremely important to my business, so I had multiple services, ie...satellite, AT&T USB connect device for my laptop, an iPhone and an iPad, both with
3G service. Internet overload!!! It was important.....so on our lifestyle visit, I never even gave it a thought. I was even a little surprised when I read the OP's post, thinking....what???? We had Internet...Forgot, we brought our own. Not having Internet is a legitimate concern, and I think TV should move into the current times and provide it in the villas. Not buying here because it's not in the LSV villa? Making a big deal about (the doctor!!!) being able to write a check on the spot?? Gee....couldn't about half of you? I couldn't, but I'm sure a lot of you could. Yeah, I think the OP got exactly what they were looking for. My pleasure to contribute....LOL |

I think the original post was a thinly-veiled attempt by a competing development to make TV look like we residents are sitting here hammering out all our posts using a chisel and tablet of stone.
The complainant could have written an email to the head of Sales in TV to state the problem, but instead he/she chose to place the "beef" on the web for everyone's consumption. If they cannot see the value of the rate of $100/night w/ no added taxes, for a 3/2 beautiful home with bicycles and golf cart, all of which is two blocks from Barnes-Noble and the town square, then they simply don't want to see it. |

Thank you for your post, Redwitch. We are considering moving to TV and I see nothing wrong with the OP's opinion. What does concern me is the rudeness and antipathy demonstrated by so many of the responses. Is this intolerance common to residents or just to some on this thread?

Good evening Maryanna, Please don't let your opinion of The Villages be clouded by our conversations on here. For the most part, people are exactly like your neighbors where you live now. In defense of the negative posts, if the OP has simply stated that they were disappointed there was no Internet available on the lifestyle visit, that's one thing, and I'm sure most would have agreed it's an inconvenience that should be addressed, but to make a big deal of their friend not buying because of it just smacks of not quite right. That struck a nerve with some, that's all.

And, why doesn't TV think that when a person gets back from a tiring day looking at houses that they might just want to get online in comfort in their jammies and look for more houses to look at the next day in TV 'cause they want to buy badly? PS: Isn't LSV a 'low speed vehicle'? There are new laws on that you know! ![]()

I must chime in here!!
We just finished our fantastic lifestyle visit. We loved the villages and had a fantastic time. BUT.....after returning home we had hours and hours of research to do that we were unable to do while there. Checking out resale listings, checking out lots available in new areas, etc. Because we we busy having a great time we did not get the questions answered that we needed. Our sales rep was great, but we had so many questions and areas to research for ourselves that we could have done while we were there if we had internet access. I think it is a mistake for the sales office not to offer wifi in each of the units. In this day and age and with the big decision to move to the Villages at stake, it would be a very small investment with a very big pay off for them. Now we are home, put a deposit on a lot we have never seen and have tons of questions. It would have been great to have has access to that information while there. |
