Don't forget, clotheslines are acceptable, along with HAM radio antennas. I know flag poles are ok, but what about flags other than the US flag?

Wikipedia,
The term redneck is a derogatory term chiefly used for a rural poor white person of the Southern United States.[1][2] Its usage is similar in meaning to cracker (especially regarding Georgia and Florida), hillbilly (especially regarding Appalachia and the Ozarks),[3] and white trash (but without the last term's suggestions of immorality).[4][5][6] By the 1970s, the term had become offensive slang, and its meaning had expanded to mean bigoted, loutish, and opposed to modern ways. [7] Patrick Huber has emphasized the theme of masculinity [clarification needed] in the continued expansion of the term in the 20th century, noting, "The redneck has been stereotyped in the media and popular culture as a poor, dirty, uneducated, and racist Southern white man." |

That said, the term redneck is said to originally have been used to indicate a farmer, due to the blistering effect of the sun on the back of the farmer's neck when working in the fields. Often, early farmers were less educated than city dwellers, so a degree of ignorance became associated with the term. Over time the term evolved to the definition given above. The term "Cracker," most often associated with Florida or Georgia, is subject to controversy, particularly in Florida. Old line Florida families tend to insist the term referred to the early cattlemen who "cracked their whips" over cattle that were being driven. Today, there are more than 1 million head of cattle and 15,000 beef producers throughout Florida. Currently, Florida ranks 9th in overall cattle numbers nationwide. The competing view, offered more often by Civil Rights activists, is that it referred to cracking whips on the backs of slaves. So, whether or not being called a Cracker is pejorative depends to a degree on who is using the term and to whom they are referring.

Mr. Chatbrat you are on the money in my opinion. Who needs that sort of thing in a beautiful community like this, you gave a measured response in my opinion. I think I get your drift on the "Redneck" thing. I take it as you referring to people from the south who act, speak, think and deal with their business differently from what we are accustomed to. They are very wise and have survived a long time here without city slickers like us. I believe they tolerate our ways because we are holding the money that they are trying to pocket by providing different services to us. You can see it when you start negotiating with them, they want to slice you up with their stare. They let us think we're in control but trust me they have us figured out totally. Redneck seems to be derogatory to me but they don't care as long as they get your money.

That is why The Villages Amateur Radio Club provides it's members with instructions on how to build clandestine Ham Radio Antennas in their attics, or otherwise disguised. Personally, I have a collapsible, portable antenna which I can set up and take down out in the yard or in the garage. It is not as efficient as a big aluminum antenna on the roof, with a rotor, but it has enabled me to make contacts deep into South America, and throughout the United States. If you have information to the contrary about Ham Radio antennas in The Villages, I would be happy to hear it.

In riding around in my little golf cart today I noticed 5 more homes with For Sale or For Rent signs in the windows. Somebody alert the media. Bad people are in town.

We call them rednecks. Perhaps slightly derogatory but not all that bad.

A perfect example would be those that think parking an olive drab trailer, with a tarp and a for sale sign in TV...is perfectly acceptable.
