Are the Garmins perfect? No, we have never found a GPS that is and we have owned all brands, but they are decent. Certainly better than the units that came on our cars.

I use Google Maps on my iPhone. Double check to be sure of your settings. Did you put in Bicycle or Walk mode, or Avoid Tolls? Make sure it's on Car Mode. We drive from the Chicago area and have had no issues (except in the Villages where not all the new roads are in yet.) The GPS in my car is from 2012... so it's certainly not accurate, but I'm not paying close to $200 to update it from the dealer. My kids told me not to use the Apple Maps as they are not as accurate as Google Maps. I've never tried Waze.

Try Waze. Find it much better than Google.

I had used TomTom for many years and was very happy with it. Then one time I didn't have it but my passenger had Waze and I liked it. I downloaded Waze and have used it ever since and the TomTom sits in the filing cabinet, even though it had lifetime maps. I like Waze for the many instant alerts that it gives as well as real time updates to traffic. We have avoided traffic clogs when we didn't even know they existed. My husband likes it better than the one in the car. I hook mine into my Android Auto and it comes up right on the larger screen where we can both easily see it with our older eyes.

Use Waze on your phone. Better than Google and free. Don't need stand alone unit. In our car we can sync with phone for visual map. Let's you know when there is debris on road parked cars on side of road and nearby police

100% Agree - Waze definitely doesn’t steer you wrong! Similar experience on I-95 - told me to get off & I did and the 3 cars in front of me... It was 10 miles to the next exit - we could see from our parallel road that 3 miles in, there was a huge back-up!! I always listen to Waze!! |

Waze is the best hands down. It even tells you when police are ahead of you along your route.

100% true it can really save time. Listen to it even if you think it’s not right or you’ll be sitting in a traffic jam mad at your self.
I’ve learned the hard way more than once and it’s very accurate as well and it’s free. Go to App Store search Waze and download it. |

I have a Chevrolet with built in navigation. The problem is the navigation MicroSD upgrade is $100 every year. I bought a Garmin and it comes with life time upgrades for free. The Garmin is up to date for The Villages.

Here's a video I shot with the camera in 2015, mine is the earlier version which was 720 video. I put the video on youtube, it's taken driving up Buena Vista from Bailey's Trail and it didn't take long to find cars not knowing how to drive a roundabout. Turn your speakers on, I put some good music to it.
The Villages, Florida Driving 2015 - YouTube[/QUOTE] Watched the video John...were you traveling over 35mph? LOL. You were correct regarding the rotary traffic. ![]() |
