Default Ole Gary is not such a culprit, now that we see....

It is clear-er to me now why the entrance was blocked when it was blocked. The developer was about to go into negotiation with Fruitland Park and didn't want the entrance to be an issue with them wanting access.

Red. The developer is building a community like no other on this earth. I see nothing wrong with his goals. I also feel that 1900 homes is a lot of golf cart traffic potential from Stonecrest. We have to deal with our own traffic FIRST. We don't have to deal with adjacent community traffic. Parking is a safer problem than traffic. Parking doesn't kill anyone.

You GET what you pay for. You have a choice to live here or there.

Only through the main vehicle gate north of Walmart by getting a pass from the guardhouse.

Not a very business like letter with spelling errors. If you want to be taken seriously, it is a good idea to work on presentation.

I agree with your reasoning, Gracie. And Red, I agree with you on most things, but this is not one of them. With the rate of development going on, there needs to be a bottom line as to what our amenity fees will pay to maintain. It's not being mean-spirited. It's protecting our investment against future over-usage. If we allow non residents to use our mm paths now, what precedent are we setting? There could even be lawsuits forcing us to allow access to other non-residents to our multi-modal paths.

There will be over-crowding of the paths. The people who buy in the new Fruitland Park TV development will surely (and rightly) be adding upwards of 1500+ carts to our paths. The paths already constructed in TV are fixed in size and scope. How will they handle this added traffic, even without adding other communities' carts as well? And there's more development to come.

I have read many posts where people who have decided to move to other retirement communities want what I PAY FOR. I personally have spoken to some of these people who live in outside communities who brag about their larger homes for less money, etc.

There has to be a bottom line....you chose to live there, you get what you paid or are paying for. I live here and get what I paid or am paying for.

I went to the Stonecrest website and believe that there is a big misconception on it.
Stonecrest Country Club - Armstrong Homes - Active Adult Living Florida
They are publicizing (promoting) that their residents can take a golf cart ride to ALL THE AMENITIES IN THE VILLAGES.

Medical facilities can be reached by car. Stonecrest and any other communities could make arrangements for thei residents.
From their web site:
At the Stone Crest Country Club you can enjoy two golf courses, play on our lighted tennis courts and pickle-ball courts, swim in the heated indoor pool or any of the outdoor pools throughout the community. Play shuffleboard, bocce ball or softball on our new softball field. Get in shape at the community gym. And take a short golf cart ride to all the amenities in The Villages, including shopping, healthcare and entertainment.

Bogie, you are quoting Stonecrest's advertising blurb, aren't you?

Taking a cart to LSL from Stonecrest would be onerous for most -- it's a far distance and done far more easily by car.

FYI -- One main reason I'm for "outsiders" using golf carts here is that our parking is so limited as it is and two carts in one spot is a lot better than one car in the same spot.
For me added traffic is not the point. I pay a monthly fee plus I paid a premium on my home price so I could enjoy what TV has to offer. Those that want to use the multi-modal paths should have to do the same thing

It's another variation of this theme, which I wholeheartedly support.

Chicken. You aren't who I thought you were.

And now because of Rubicon, I know what a Red Herring is.

This forum is amazing. I am so sorry Chicken.

I agree.....you have a choice. You can buy a home IN The Villages, pay for and enjoy all the amenities including the golf cart paths.... OR.... you can buy elsewhere and NOT have access to our amenities and golf cart paths...It doesn't work both ways! Pretty simple.

Stonecrest should be careful because they may need to provide transportation to all the people that were lured there by promises that Stonecrest had no right to make. If I lived in the development I would find some written promises of easy access to medical care and the hospital and ask where is my van to take me across the street? Then I might sue the Stone Crest developer to provide van service. The Villages POA might give them pointers.

we came in for a few weeks in october, and spent most nights in brownwood..i have to admit the traffic from off road four wheelers driving to and from brownwood and around the square, yelling at people that took too long to park and then raced in between to get somewhere faster..was not something i would want to deal with all the time..and the snowbirds were not in full yet. Yes, they were young with three to four per cart..the age is not the problem, nor the yelling at people, its the unsafe, driving that bothered me..it seemed each night there were 4 to 10 of the non golf carts, on the paths weaving in and out of the carts, passing at the last minute...so my thought is that adding more carts from outside of tv..will just add to the problem...but just my thoughts

I am pretty sure that our multi-modal paths are "public access". If a non-resident can access them, they can legally use them, but then, why would they if doing so would require jumping through all sorts of hoops to gain access.

This "non residents using TV amenities" is much ado about nothing.

If ATVs were at Brownwood, they were not there legally.
