The Villages is the warm and open community where the streets are public. The Squares are open to the public and "Main Street" can keep going here in The Villages. The STREETS from Stonecrest can be driven right into The Villages in the same manner of most commercial areas of the United States. The Morse family business model offered carts paths to its residents, period. Your remark about "fairweather friends" smells funny to me. Has Stonecrest put a hole in their fence so we can easily get into their complex to use facilities that are available to us so we can avoid the hassle at the front gate? So much of your post has nothing to do with the issue being discussed. |

The population of TV is now at 100,000 residents in the winter. There really are more as some rentals have more than 2 per home and many residents here have guests any given week. So perhaps we peak at 110,000 (wild guess?). Nonetheless, if on any given day 25% of the residents of Stonecrest and 25% of the residents of Fruitland additionally came, we might go from 110,000 people here to 114,000 people here, a MASSIVE increase in our traffic of 3% lousy percent. They would use public highways spend money inside this community which we all support. However some are opposed because the developer built the multimodal paths and now via tax-free bonds which we pay back as amenity fees and home bonds someone else "THEM" might derive a small benefit. This has IMO nothing to do with overcrowding as no one is going to notice a 3% increase in traffic so please skip that argument. Would you be happy if the POA at Stonecrest offered to pay into the maintenance cost for the paths? Now it wouldn't be fair for them to asked to pay for any paths other than the ones they are likely to use. Keep in mind that via their taxes they already pay for the streets. It would seem to be easy to set up a system where interested persons from Stonecrest could obtain a gate card and as we know the cards are already tracked, their POA would get a bill for each time a card is used. Everyone happy with that? Stonecrest would also pick up the cost of establishing and maintaining the hardware and software needed.

I don't believe that gate was put up to stop the folks from Stonecrest. It's was put up because of the massive care center being built just north of The Villages property line. ( Forget it's name) They started to advertise that it was golf cart ride to The Villages. If I was the Morse family and a large facilty was built saying it was goft cart friendly, I would put a stop to it. The family has put in a lot of work to make The Villages what it is today.

I had absolutely no idea that such vast hordes of the great unwashed masses were descending on The Villages like golf cart driving invading mongrels!!? I must have missed all of the mile long traffic jams of illegal alien driven golf carts clogging the "Multi-Modal Paths" all throughout the pristine wonderfulness that is America's Friendliest Hometown"
I say why stop at just keeping those darn pesky foreign type operated golf carts out!! I mean it takes a bit of effort to get a foreign golf cart into our lil bubble of utopia .... but think about how easy it is for "outsiders" to just walk or bike in!!! The answer is crystal clear to me. Let's use our genuine and God given 2nd amendment rights to form "A well regulated Militia" and make sure that each and every; walker, runner, cyclist (especially these annoying bike riders!), roller skaters, hula hoopers, Segway riders (don't get me started on those hipster wannabe's), dog walkers (even if they have fitted Fido with the soon to be mandatory Doggie Colostomy Bag) .... in general every living breathing soul that use's "our" Multi-Modal Paths, is in fact a card carrying The Villages resident!!! Punishment to offenders will range from a harsh tongue lashing (for not carrying your "papers) to a caning (for not submitting for the new "TV Resident Micro Chip" implant) to a public stoning (that will teach "them") WHO"S WITH ME!?!?!? |

BobAllen1290 I read both of your posts and I agree you.
The village has ben lax in tending to its gates and I believe they finally have figured that out. this issue of Stonecrest golf carts using our paths has been going on for a long time. I initially felt it should be challenged and was shouted down by many. suddenly the majority agree that it is a problem. Why? because of the same reasons cited years back. 1 congestion 2) they are riding free 3) despite what some believe the golf cart paths are private and paid or maintained to by village residents. Recall that the widening of the golf cart paths was not paid for by the county, not by the developer but by our amenity fees. 4) Recall I explained back in early 2007 I met a Stonecrest resident who laughed in my face because he felt he dodged the extra cost of The Villages and could still experience the Lifestyle. finally ask yourself how long you would tolerate a person going to lunch with you and sticking you we the bill every time? to my way of thinking we have enough gridlock on the golf cart paths now |

First: 4,000 additional carts from outside the community on our multimodal trails is a LOT. Second: if outlying communities are able to petition the counties to force The Villages to open their fences to the general public, you have, in essence, killed the vitality and uniqueness of The Villages. Grab a map and study the areas adjacent or accessible by the building of a cart path to The Villages. You are not talking 4,000 carts. From my understanding, there are homes for sale in The Villages. If one desires the features of The Villages, buy in. And if you think having golf cart access to everything The Villages has to offer is a "small benefit", then why all the complaining? Get in your car and drive in. |

I seem to be missing the point of where these private golf cart paths might be!!! From everything that I have seen as long as you can get to these paths legally with a golf cart than you can freely drive said cart on these paths. Since most of these paths are accessed from public roads I would think that maybe a yearly trail fee would be a much better approach since at this time all legal golf carts rented or owned can access all cart paths. This being said the comparison of our borders being invaded by Illegal aliens is is really far fetched.

Trail fees would cut it if you also include the premium price that The Village residents pay for the privilege of those cart paths. Wouldn't a simpler solution be to move to The Villages rather than standing on the other side of the fence and trying to talk the powers-that-be into giving you the same rights as The Village residents? ![]() |

Unless something has changed most if not all roads in TV are public thus they are maintained by county dollars.
