And the 'season' is comparatively brief when compared to the remainder of the year - no? During 'the season it could be more beneficial for those golf groups to do their golfing @ Stonecrest - no?

1.) Playing the same 18 holes over and over gets boring... 2.) They were able to bring their own golf carts over to The Villages to golf and didn't have to rent one... |

The reason I brought up about other access points that can be easily shut off to all is due to the fact the last time I went to walmart from behind Aldi's it had been raining on and off. I noticed on my return that several carts had cut to the right of the dirt path which was then mud. They had cut thru by the fenced electrical yard, basically was a very stupid thing to do. The no trepass sign had also been run over. I have a feeling the power company may not tolerate trepassing and for liability reasons close it up to all.

I have been reading a lot of well thought out responses as well as some viewpoints that I don't quite understand. One would think that some people from Stonecrest would benefit from starting their own chat forum, "Talk of Stonecrest" or something like that to discuss their issues about leaving Stonecrest. Seems like they don't have much to do there and want out.
Devil's advocate......what if there was no Villages with all the healthcare, entertainment, shopping, etc.............would they still move to Stonecrest? |

What was asked is if they plunked Stonecrest down in a field in the middle of nowhere, would you be enthralled with the compound and move there? |

And that was my same question back at you since Stonecrest has the same access to these and we don't have to live without them either. Obviously location is a large consideration wherever you move. You threw a hypothetical possibility at me and I did the same.

Someone answer a question for me, please... Now that the Paradise gate is closed to anyone not a TV resident, is there any golf cart access point anywhere to non TV residents? If there isn't, then co519, you cannot use the mult-imodal paths because they are only accessible from within TV, and you could not enter TV in your golf cart. I think that is what Peachie is saying--you could only access them with a street-legal cart.

It would be simple to sell a home in Stonecrest and move to the Villages. While the homes in The Villages are still affordable. We all have choices that are above board and none of us have to choose devious ways to accomplish our goals, dreams or wants. On this forum I have learned what a Contrarian is, what a red herring is, what happens when having a giving attitude toward others is taken advantage of and I have learned about how being sensible and realistic is usually the best course. And it has reinforced my belief that we all need to learn to take care of ourselves, and save for the future. It is not other people's responsibility to look after us and give us what we want when we can get it for ourselves by careful planning, work, and some sacrifice..and if that doesn't work, shift to other goals and dreams. Wanting something is not reason enough to think we are entitled to it.

Are you saying that you would have to drive across unpaved parts of land to get onto the TV paths? Not a traditional path built by TV? I was asking about paved, permitted access into TV by golf cart.

The developer has a very important carrot that he can use to bring in commercial customers. From restaurants to hardware stores he can offer Golf Cart accessibility. That's a big deal. He has marketed this with his customers and it would be stupid for him to allow an erosion of this sales tool.
The paradise gate is just one place that surrounding communities or businesses outside of TV would like to have the ability to enter TV by golf cart. Has nothing to do with public roads, all these golf cart paths where they enter TV are on private property. The developer, I think, will eventually build out. Then his only source of income will be commercially leased properties. Which is a really big deal. I for one hope he makes a bunch on his commercial interests so that the quality of life and higher standards can be maintained that are the reasons we bought here in the first place. |
