One-way aisles to facilitate social distancing. They are doing this in Northern Virginia now.

Publix has done this. They've put directional arrows on the floors. Unfortunately, many shoppers don't understand or simply ignore them.

They also have an area designated with disinfected carts. They only allow about 40 people in the store at a time. Five out, five in.. The cashier touches nothing if at all possible. Gun scan your card. Gun scan the items in your cart if possible. Customer rotates items to facilitate gun scanning. If the conveyor does get used it gets disinfected between customers. Even with only 40 customers in the store they still have 5 registers open. A reader board outside displaying in/out of stock status on popular items. If it's out of stock no need standing in line outside. Several employees directing the traffic flow and wiping things down. All wearing masks and gloves. A lot of effort but worth it. I wish Home Depot and Lowes would come even close to such effort. Both of those places have been a zoo..

I was in Publix today and noticed the arrows....great idea. Now if we could only get some people to get with the program. Yes, it does make skipping aisles a little more challenging, but every little bit helps.

We "experienced" that for the first time today at Publix Colony. I can say we and many others unknowingly didn't follow them for a while because there was no notice posted, didn't hear any announcements or see any signs in the store. After our third aisle going the wrong way along with lots of others we noticed the thin little blue tape arrows on the floor after someone politely advised us. Generally we don't pay attention to the floor when we shop and they used very narrow blue tape so it wasn't very obvious as we weren't thinking about the floor but only getting my Spaghetti O's (out of stock of course). It's a great idea but they need some "standing up" signs to advise shoppers and then I think many more would have heeded them. Walmart is supposed to be doing it as well but as of yesterday was not and the same for Aldi per the news reports.

They also announce that they've put them there, every hour. Thanking the customers for respecting social distancing and sticking with the one-way aisle pattern.

then what makes you think they'll notice a sign standing up in front of an aisle warning them to go the other way? Pro-tip: if you see someone washing down carts over "THERE" then try looking over "HERE" for the ones that are already clean. |

True, but that shouldn't stop them for attempting to make it more obvious. We must have been there BETWEEN announcements or were too busy running down the aisles the wrong way singing "Oh Oh No Spaghetti O's" again and maybe didn't hear it. ![]()

Gainesville has been doing this since March, with limited people inside at all times. In every store

They're the same people who drive down the parking lot aisles in the wrong direction

I noticed the blue arrows last time I went to Publix...
I didn't see them when I first went in and apparently went the wrong way down one isle... I'm not in the habit of looking at the ground when I walk Once I did see them, no problem |
