Sounds like a scam, looking for donations.

I knew of a woman this happened to. I think she had been married to the man (not 1st spouse). He died unexpectedly and hadn't made a provision for her. His kids didn't like her and kicked her out of the house. After that, I'm not sure what happened to her. Think she found a rental somewhere. Hopefully this man can find a solution to his problem. NOT many people will take on a stranger plus a dog for their spare room!!

His dog is a wonderful labra-doodle that loves everyone and other pets.

$500 is for rent only, remainder of ss will allow him to live.
He would have more luck looking outside The Villages.

We should get more information.

This might just be a kind man and a gentle dog that need a place to stay. I would think that Talk of the Villages would be a good resource for that.
I am hoping that you are getting some support for the man and dog in this sad situation via Private Messages and in other ways. Good luck.

Is the man a church-goer? There might be help through the church.

It is worth having the dicussion with an appropriate resource. Sounds like he may have some rights based on the extend of relationship, what did he contribute financially (or not) to the relationship and home upkeep and nornal home expenses. Suggest to not rush as a crisis to evict him based on the heirs desires. Your looking at the tip of the iceberg, need to assess what is below. Keep us posted as we all wish the best outcome. Good he has your helping him

Sounds like it’s not his family who is asking him to leave.
So where is his family?
I will ask around
So sad

I frequently have had go back to this. Mainly because you rarely see kind behavior online. Unless it is on a site that only allows friendly behavior.

To further explain, as stated above, I'm a caregiver, devoted to my dear husband, love him so, happened to go to pet park, hear this sad story and knew TOTV is a wonderful resource for very good listeners, who are helpful and kind with an occasional exception. I've learned that this gentleman's son is coming to TV and bring him back to Michigan and help his father adjust to his new life, God bless them all.

Thank you for this update and (hopefully) a happy ending for this gentleman and his dog. Your post opened the door to how many elderly people get into these awful situations without thinking of legalizing their situation.
