BEST way to have them close is QUIT GOING THERE! No sit-down business demand means they will resort to take out/curbside/delivery options. As long as there is demand, ANYONE who depends on that income will do everything they can to meet that demand.
WHO exactly is at fault here? Those that go, or those that are trying to stay financially sound??? |

That is why there are so many places to eat in the Villages and surrounding areas; there are thousands of people who would rather eat out than try to figure out how to bake a chicken for the first time in all their 70+ years of life. As for your either/or situation - there are plenty of people who are financially sound, who can afford to get take-out from a food truck a couple times a week. However, there will be 5-10 more people collecting unemployment, applying for welfare checks and food stamps, if that food truck goes out of business due to lack of revenue. It is not the food truck's responsibility to tell their customers to keep an arm's-length distance from each other in line. It is the customer's responsibility to do that. That said - it might not be a bad idea if there was a Villages employee whose job it is to hand out numbers for customers (so the customers don't have to cluster around the number table). There's a PA system in the town squares that isn't being used now that the entertainment is shut down. They can use it to announce the next number in line. That way, customers can mill around, keeping their distance from each other but still be in the premises - sit on one of the benches, read a book by the gazebos, stand near the fountain with their spouses..and when their number is called, they go up and place their order without having to push through any lines. But again, it's not the responsibility of the Villages or the food truck owners to come up with and implement this idea. If you think it's a good idea, maybe you could bring it up to the Villages - or the food truck owner. |

Technically, I think you’re correct. However, while the body develops antibodies, at the same time the effect of the virus causes those at risk to have an overwhelming reaction and develop pneumonia faster than antibodies can protect them. So, you end up with a person with lots of antibodies, but dying.

The first personal computer was an Altair, introduced in 1975. Anyone who is 85 years old today would have been 40 years old then. That means they would have been working age. That also means they would likely have had some exposure to computers, even then. If you don't recognize that brand and are sure the majority of people would never have heard of it - that's fine. The next wave of personal computers was 2 years later with the Apple II in 1977.
Seniors who have had zero computer experience, at this point in technology, have chosen to have zero computer experience. Computer technology has been going on all around them for the past 50 years and in fact the inventor of the PC is older than most of them. So there's no "excuse" for Villagers to have no understanding of computers. You can even go to the Savannah center and use one of theirs to learn how, and there are computer clubs that are happy to teach you at any of their instructional meetings. They don't know because they have chosen not to know. They've had 50 years to make that choice. |

Well said Travelhunter…. Most intelligent post shown on this topic. Maybe more posters should read it and think it through.

Our Federal and local governments are governing and enforcing laws to keep us safe. It is very evident to me from seeing what is happening here that there are those who are not savy and are putting everyone at risk. Seems some of these folks have not gotten the memo.

It isn't that they WILL not but CAN not. The doctors are having to triage who gets the ventilator and who does not. Age is a major criteria. Younger folks who can beat this thing are given priority for ventilators. The older folks who don't have a snowball's chance in hell are left to die. Very sad but that is the reality in Italy. Hope it doesn't become a reality here in America.
