I'd like to thank the Snowbirds for paying amenity fees and property taxes all year, but only using them part time.

You're welcome. We get the best of both worlds, and you get some peace, quiet, and lower bills in return. Having snowbirds is a win-win situation.

Your welcome, but don’t forget we also pay significantly more in property taxes with no homestead exemption as well as for trash pick up and base water and sewer usage while not there which helps keep your rates lower. The snowbirds are both the geese that lays the golden eggs as well as the gift that just keeps on giving.

There is much more to it than that, the northern states won’t let you give up residency, and let you stop paying them income taxes, that easily. Our problem is that we still have a couple years to go to qualify for Medicare. Until then we have to buy our health insurance from the state exchange of our primary residency. If we declare Florida our primary state of residency, we would have to buy health insurance through the Florida exchange and would be out of network for all of our doctors up north, which we don’t want to do. Once we turn 65, the Medicare network is national and we can declare Florida residency, get the homestead exemption, and still be able to see our existing network of doctors. Not that I want to get any older, but we are very much looking forward to that aspect of turning 65.

I think the word should have been "sweater".

I'm very grateful for those folks who are seasonal and snow birds. I'm sure the retailers and restaurants are grateful too. Your business keeps these businesses with their heads above water. Thank you very much. Hubby and I were once seasonal residents before moving here full time so I know what it is like to be scorned upon.

That's debatable, depending where they live. I know that snowbirds from a certain cold land where that goof Aaron Rogers plays take the exemption here.

I don't even mind the additional traffic. From what I'm used to traffice wise, this is nothing here in The Villages, even in high season.

Frogs May be closer to a dirt nap than the younger snowbird’s. However not Frogs, snowbirds or snowflakes have expiration date stamped on the bottom of their foot. So dirt naps can occur no matter what their residence status is.
