#2...And NEVER awesome the other driver sees you even when their looking

Right now, the advice to "never be next to another car" essentially converts the roundabout into a single lane circle.

What about a physical change to force that? Put a barricade in the right lane at every place a side road connects. The rule becomes the right lane must exit. To go around past that barricade cars need to be in the left lane.
Makes it a one lane type of road, but everyone would be forced to follow that concept.
That would stop the right lane people from going in circles.

You can trust it if it is a one finger salute.

This is NEVER going to stop. Many roundabouts in Europe merge into 1 lane before the roundabout. If that would NOT work in The Villages, then they should use red lights or overpasses if traffic is high. The 2 lane roundabout has NEVER worked right and NEVER will. It is impossible to expect 100% of the Village population to correctly negotiate 2 lane roundabouts........IMPOSSIBLE !!!! Roundabouts should be made simple, not complex.

The 2 lane roundabout has worked and will continue to work.

It’s IMPOSSIBLE for 100% of any population to do anything correctly 100% of the time.

that's how i drive on the highway. I scan the front left or right tires of the vehicles in front of me to catch if their drifting either way. It's worked for over 50 years.

I completely agree!

We have been here for seven years. We know the rules for driving thru a roundabout, and I always have my hand on the horn to give a long honk when I encounter a person breaking the rules.

That having been said, we drive slowly and very carefully in a roundabout. If we are having a conversation, we always stop before entering the roundabout so we can watch the other drivers, and we expect the unexpected, like a person entering a roundabout in the inside lane and cutting across the outside lane to go into the first exit.

I know it may be hard to believe, but looking at the signs before every roundabout explaining the traffic pattern through it really does help!

2 lane roundabouts appear to be designed by local body shops to maximize their business.

That just SHOWS that most drivers would prefer a SINGLE-LANE roundabout. Accidents would go down - what is so terrible about that ? The residents are retired so NEED NOT drive like their hair (if they have any) is on FIRE. It is bad enough that the commercial vehicles drive "fast and furious". If retired, you should have patience and enjoy every moment of the dwindling "rest of your life".

One question would be - are 2 lane roundabouts safer than a red light system? In a retirement complex should NOT safety be important. And do older retired people need/or want to learn a 2 lane roundabout system since they PROBABLY did NOT encounter them BEFORE retirement to The Villages?
........I fail to see ANY advantages to a 2 lane roundabout system?

The only turn signals I trust are the ones I see happening a few yards ahead of their turn, but even then, it’s possible they may have turned it on by mistake!!! D’OH!

The only driver I trust is me! Everyone else is either a complete idiot or an assassin. I highly recommend you adopt that same belief.
