Well then, Wildwood can also adopt this model. Since all they do is waste money.

I can

I don't know about that. The truck travels zero extra miles when it services my cul de sac and the others in my neighborhood.

True, I can't see how they can service the entire neighborhood without some additional miles and time since not everything is a cul de sac. But in the end, that's not my concern. The staffing and routing was changed with zero change to my monthly trash fees. How they handle their business is not my concern.

Generational issues. I thought everyone who used FaceBook had passed on to the big giant social media platform in the sky. I guess there are still holdouts.

TikTok is what's happening and X (Twitter) for the semi-seniors.

Our streets are not exactly busy ones so wonder how necessary this is?
That’s what happened at our northern subdivision. Sixteen yo late for school passed the truck as the worker was walking across to trash. He was thrown to the ground, under the wheels of the garbage truck, and run over. Worker paraplegic, teen mentality never the same. After the event trash was picked up one side at a time. Ten years later trash went to auto can pickup only driver per truck

Costs have to have gone up, no way our cost for trash removal will not go up in the near future.

I've been living in The Villages for 7 years, and they've always gone up one side and down the other here. We have Waste Management here, not Jacobs, and they use compressed natural gas in our area's trucks rather than conventional diesel. Much less expensive, and much less carbon monoxide in the exhaust.

I'm not doubting what you say, but ...

All that trash is burned to produce energy (supposedly). The value of the created energy should be going up, too.

Somehow, I suspect we won't get the benefit of that.

I personally don’t want to have to deal with large plastic trash containers. Been there, done that!

As far as image is concerned! Putting out trash two times a week is not a pretty sight, which the “Villages” apparently puts up with!
I am the opposite. I keep a standard rolling trash container in my garage. I put the trash in it so I don't have loose trash bags in my garage. I then roll the trash container to the end of my driveway and unload it onto the driveway the night before trash day. I then roll the now empty trash container back into my garage. If they went to mechanized pick up, my life would be essentially unchanged. But I am fine with the current system as well.
