I agree with this...the onus has to be on the buyer, but I do think some kind of remediation should have been required during the planning process of this development? And I mean, not just on the builder, but the county commission(et al)? Just my opinion.
And, yes, I'm new here, and I've already heard complaints about the noise from the prison(outside speaker announcements, etc)? It's only going to get worse, as they build south to Orlando. Cheers!

Sorry retiredguy. I've read many of your responses and I consider you one of the brighter responders (sorry other responders). I take it it's a rhetorical question as the answer is obvious. If the developer could have legally built 300 more houses on the shoulder of 75 I'm pretty sure they would have done so.

In fairness, while in my former profession, I saw MANY cities around the USA (and other countries) where multi-million dollar "noise breaker" walls were constructed to ameliorate road noise in adjacent communities. I have NO idea which entity was responsible, financially or otherwise, for getting the walls constructed, or whether it was before or after the fact. I do not believe taxpayers should be financially responsible to make a developer's product more desirable; I am only pointing out the fact that this is not unheard of and, in fact, fairly common. I wonder who the petitioner wants to finance the construction - is it the developer I would suppose?

A Villager has launched a petition effort over noise from the Florida Turnpike.

Harold Meyer of the Village of Monarch Grove earlier this month took his complaint about noise from the Turnpike before the Project Wide Advisory Committee. He said the noise at his home at 5752 Hickey Way has become “unbearable.” Meyer suggested that more landscaping could be added, or perhaps even a wall. However, PWAC was not receptive to his plight.
Undeterred, Meyer has launched a petition effort in a quest to gain the support of his neighbors in the Village of Monarch Grove.

“I am spearheading a petition to ask the Developers of our community to deal with the road noise created by the Florida Turnpike,” Meyer said.

Thus far, he has collected 140 signatures.

“While the noise level is noticeable east of Corbin Trail, I have spoken to Zientara Loop residents west of Corbin Trail that also hear road noise. This issue impacts property values as well as the quality of life in and outside the home,” he said.

Meyer purchased his home in May 2019 for $231,500. At least a dozen homes remain unsold on Hickey Way.

Not quite accurate. There are many homes that back onto Morse and Buena Vista that have a multi-modal path within 10-15’ of the home. The noise from golf carts greatly exceeds the noise from normal auto traffic by a lot.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Especially when it comes to buying in TV. "The Friendliest Town. Do you like golf - great 50+ golf courses Free!. Swimming? Unlimited pools. Clubs? Literally thousands. People are so, so friendly - they would never call you stupid. This is unlike any other place in the world. Where do I sign? So, unless someone has the knowledge of what to look for or knows someone here that can guide them it's pretty easy to get caught up in the excitement of Disneyland for Seniors. And don't forget Agents have to put food on their table so sales are a must, therefore, they might just forget to mention the noise from 75 while they're reading through the huge list of of exciting things TV has to offer.

What is God's name did you think it would be. Did you get out of your car to look at the house during a Thunderstorm or did you think they were going to route traffic after you moved in.

You all should push for barriers and tall trees to be planted by the developer. And if you would stop buying homes for just a month or so, they might listen.

You do not move next to the outside movie drive in then B@*!* about the movies. Be responsible for your own decision. If it was not near the highway you would of paid $50,000 more but decided it was ok. LOL

I live north of 44. One mile straight distance from the turnpike and I can hear, but it’s not an annoyance.

He was probably promised that a sound barrier would soon be built along with shopping, restaurants, Medical facilities, and a golf cart path to Brownwood.
