Depends on which you get. Pfizer is about 21 days or 3 weeks. Moderna is 28 days or 4 weeks. These are what was reported. Actual final guidelines might vary.

And CVS will have extra pharmacists on duty when the immunizations roll out to the public. I’m thinking Walgreens will do the same.

Been wondering the same thing. I have been checking with the county health depts and cannot find out anything. Seems if there was a plan the population should be informed. I am happy to wait my turn, just like to know when that turn might be.

It depends on your age, health status, and circumstances.

I don't think it will be available in Feb. Maybe early spring (spring starts March 20).

I don't have a lot of confidence that we have always been getting the whole truth from DeSantis.

got this off the web: Floridians are also encouraged to opt-in to receive updates about the COVID-19 vaccine via text. Floridians can receive these text updates by texting FLCOVID19 to 888777.

I work for CVS pharmacy and we will be giving the vaccine by appointment when it becomes available. There are many different types of the vaccine. Some have to be stored in dry ice which we will not have. Some are a 2 dose or 3 dose vaccine. We have no details on when we will be receiving it. I suggest calling your pharmacy to see if they have any information on availability.

Do you have some specific data you would like to share or is that just a guess on your part (aka “an opinion”) ? The one piece of data I have is from DeSantis, who is obviously being briefed by people close to the plans. Whether you have confidence in DeSantis is irrelevant.

You are arrogantly ignorant about your own health and mine and those of your small grandchildren if you have them. I too am very glad that Operation Warp Speed allowed enormous amounts of money to speed up the research to stop this killer of older people but I have always kept up on all vaccinations to protect myself, and my family and people like you who do not "believe in vaccinations".

Did the Governor give the February estimate before or after he found out the initial delivery of the vaccine to Florida was going to be both less than originally planned and delayed?

Enough doses do not yet exist to make the vaccine available to everyone. Anything you heard yesterday and most of what you will hear today and in the near future are guess based on assumed production and shipping capabilities. Heck, they don't even have a plan yet for who will be in the Phase 1b distribution.

My guess is no one will know until January or February what the timeframe will be for manufacturing and shipping the number of doses required. Actually getting it into the arms of the masses will come some time after that.

Calling someone "arrogantly ignorant" for not having the same views as you is just plain arrogant itself

Well, yes, it was an estimate. He could have said June but he said February and I don’t believe he pulled the number out of thin air. It is obviously based on projections of production of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and assuming the Moderna vaccine will be approved before the end of the year. Production of the vaccines started before the FDA approvals and, yes, they haven’t produced all the vaccines yet. If you have a real source providing a better estimate then share it. Opinions are pretty much worthless.

Maybe it should be done in the recreational centers, by alphabet or by age but I do believe we definitely need a plan and some serious organization.
I am thankful that I do not need to make these decisions. Whatever is decided, some will not agree. Most of what we know or think we know is spun information.

Right now it is only the Pfizer vaccine that has been approved. That is the one that needs to be stored at sub zero temps. Behind that is is one from Moderna that does not require as low a temperature. Interesting to me, I've read that Pfizer is partly Chinese owned. Moderna is an American owned company. Not sure what that means.
There is nothing that says that Chinese people cannot buy stock in Moderna.
In any case both vaccines require two shots. We will all need to be sure we get two shots of the same product. How long does immunity last? No one seems to know or to be willing to state. Will we need boosters? What will that cost?
Oh, and the spun facts say Johnson and Johnson have yet another vaccine in late testing that is only one injection.

I heard that once you receive the vaccine you will need to continue with masks and social distancing.

Like most things there are no simple yes, no answers.
