Arrested and charged out on $2000 bail.

Just wondering why one would arm themselves when talking to a neighbor about their dog.
So glad I do not a have neighbor like this guy. ( or should I buy a gun, just in case?)
There lot of loose end to this article, as usual form the source? If you read the comments below the article. Supposable the incident occurred inside dog park were dogs are allowed to be off leash???? Either way IMO this wacko should not be carrying a pistol. O wait, the arresting officer took it from him. Now we have to wait see if the judge gives it back or has to give it back if he gets “ good” attorney?

I would say that 1 in 20 men in TV carry. It is far higher than you think.

I think that you might be very surprised about how many people have concealed carry permits and who actually carry. Most would never display the weapon except in extreme emergency as evidenced by the small number of reported incidents. My bet is that several of the persons who are frequent posters on this site "Carry"

At one time in our neighborhood about half of the people who live here had a license for a gun. I was at first surprised. In the past they had a reason, Federal Agent, retired military, carried business money to bank, They are are/were reasonable and common sense people and I felt protected and safer living here.

Got to be one of the stupidest laws going. If a bad guy sees you have a gun, who do you think he/she will shoot first, hence the reason for concealed carry.

Florida population is about 20 million and last time I looked there was 1-1/2 million concealed weapons permits, so that's about every 13 people in Florida. Since TV has such a high percentage of retired military and police, all with good criminal backgrounds being more familiar with guns, I would think it's closer to 1 in 10 in TV. If you have your DD214, proof of military service, you can skip the required classroom course and just go through the other checks when applying.

Your quite right. Our son is an airline pilot. Anyone boarding who legally can carry a gun on board must be reported to the pilot with seat location. He said that many times there may be up to ten or more guns on board: forest rangers , postal inspectors, FBI, Some bank examiners. US Marshalls, Secret Service, and many more.

same feeling here - TV is not a place where a gun is necessary, but we have a lot of paranoid people who think so.

Necessary for what? Do you mean no one in the Villages needs to own a gun because guns are not "necessary". IMO your statement sounds paranoid!

I think that, if you purchase a gun, it is a good idea to get a concealed carry license even if you have no intention to carry the gun. In Florida, it is a very simple process and you get an excellent training couse in gun safety. Suppose you just walk across the street to show your gun to a neighbor? Or, suppose you take your gun to your pool inside a birdcage? Are you still in your house? Make an innocent mistake and you could be arrested and jailed without a concealed carry license. It also provides another picture ID card. Just my opinion.

I wouldn’t show it to anybody unless they gave me a reason to. Just saying that’s just nuts,

I agree why would you want to walk with pistol visible, easily grabs and used against you IMO.

It's not 31 states. MOST states have provisions for open carry. Only a handful prohibit it, and even those states have exceptions (no open carry pistols, but long rifles allowed. Or unloaded allowed, loaded not allowed. Or not allowed, except in rural areas that have legislated exemptions, for example).

Florida
Illinois
New York
South Carolina

Are the only states that prohibit open carry. And of those, Illinois is the only state that actually enforces the prohibition on both pistols and long guns/rifles.
