Default Circle K @ 466 & Southern Trace.

The Circle K located on the corner of 466 and Southern Trace is no longer affiliated with Shell. Bought gas for the golf cart this morning and my Shell Fuel Rewards card was “not recognized”. Ok, no big deal. The thing that irked me the most was now there is separate prices for using Circle K’s Easy Pay credit card and a regular credit or debit card. The difference is $.06 cents per gallon. The extra $.30 cents to fill-up the golf cart is not going to break me, but I just don’t like stations that charge more for folks that does not have the oil company’s affinity credit card. I don’t know if this change applies to all Circle K’s or just this location. Last Sunday the Circle K/Shell @ 441 and Santa Barbara was still a Shell station. Look like I will be bypassing the Circle K at Southern Trace.

My math teacher is rolling over in her grave. Why are you worrying about a third of a penny to fill up your cart??

Same thing happened up off CR42 by mulberry months or year ago. I am surprised they took shell card that long.

It's more likely the discount reflects a cost reduction by using Circle K's Easy Pay card. Credit card companies charge a fee (between 1.5% and 2.5% per transaction) - 2% on a $3 gallon is 6 cents. In addition, before they let you charge, the pumps will access a validation source to make sure you card is good, that may also incur a fee. In either event, if you are using Circle K's card, their cost for handling the card "in house" could be close to zero.

Default Gas Card

We were buying a gas card at Publix's and asked for "Shell". The person checking us out told us the Gas Stations on 466 no longer take Shell and suggested WAWA which we did
and they work just as fine. Typical good service from Publix!!

Cash or credit used to be at stations a while back. Now it's a choice between cards that makes a price difference. Electric cars will have a similar format one day.

It has gotten confusing to say the least. Endless debate about gasoline, My OPINION based on reading. All gasoline actually travels in the same pipeline. The difference is the detergent package added to the gasoline. Like any other generic product it will be cheaper but you have no way to know the quality of what you are buying. The detergent package is what keeps the carburetor, or fuel injector clean as well as the valves etc.
As far as Shell, They have one of the best detergent packages and they have a loyalty card that gets you ???? five cents off on a gallon and a grocery promotion where you pay
$40 for a $50 gift card when you spend a minimum of $50.

Different strokes for different folks. As a consumer it is your responsibility that the person with the lowest price sells more and so makes more money. When, you do not care about a penny, etc, there is no reason to charge less and it quickly becomes a dime, a quarter, a dollar etc etc etc etc.

I always get a laugh at people that use the "high test" I.E. 93, when the manufacturer recommends "regular" I.E. 85.
They think that it will help their car. In reality, the higher octane gas is for high compression engines. Using it in a "regular"engine will result in unburnt gas which will create deposits on the pistons. And a waste of money.

Actually, the quoted amount of "$.30 cents" has two possible interpretations:

1. "$.30" equals 30 cents

2. ".30 cents" equals three tenths of a cent (not a third)

Actually$.30 is only 30 cents.
$.03 is 3 cents and
$.003 is 3/10 of 1cent
