It is because this thread is about life in The Villages. It is not about political issues.

I like it here because people outside TV who think about coming to TV can see the poll without being registered and signed-in on the political forum.

It's good for non-villagers to see that TV is well mixed and far more diverse than some think--without ever having spent even a day here.

do you really think that people move to or don't move to the villages because of political tendencies and not the golf courses, amenities and facilities the villages offers?

Hi L&L,
Residents here are snowflakes, snowbirds or frogs. Obviously snowbirds come down for the winter. Snowflakes own a home here and come down whenever they can. Frogs are full-time residents, here till they croak.

Back to the subject, this is an interesting poll.

Default njbchbum, you nailed it. The notion is a story book anecdote.

Reality suggests otherwise.
Very similar to the comment by GG about losing friends if you speak what you believe....to me those would not be friends.
Any subject with "political" in it takes on a life of it's own....just like the three word story/sentences.

Thanks PT, that's what we first thought when we saw the term, we have always been considered flaky. But because we drift in and out, we thought of ourselves as.....snowDrifts

and to answer NJ's comment:
do you really think that people move to or don't move to the villages because of political tendencies and not the golf courses, amenities and facilities the villages offers?

We believe there's more effect than some might assume. The diversity shown in the poll might be encouraging to many among us, though we had seen the demographic stats that were posted on an earlier entry to this thread.

Sometimes politics gets to be as emotional as a tailgate party where adults become rivaling teen fans all over again.

Thanks to Red for the enlightenment

Default December TV Magazine

I noticed on a two page spread in the Dec issue of The Villages Magazine they recap some of the well known visitors to TV in 2010. I'm not sure if the list reflects the make up of TV or that of the publisher.

The list w/pics is made up of K. Rove, L. Ingraham, S. Hannity, M. Romney, G.W. Bush, R. Scott, M. Rubio and Ed Meese.

Hi BobKat1,
The publisher is the developer. He is Republican and invites the Republican luminaries. Sarah Palin and Glen Beck also have visited TV.

Hi BobKat1, I am not aware of any speaker associated with liberal issues or the Democratic Party who has been invited, if this is what you are asking. However, needless to say, I am not aware of every speaker who has ever been invited. So, would someone please jump if a Democratic or liberal speaker has been invited to TV.

I'm beginning to get the feeling that TV has a lot more liberals than I thought considering how often I meet liberals who are afraid to admit/discuss their political viewpoints.

No one needs to add a response, this is just a poll.
Why did you include liberal and not conservative?

Current TOTV vote:

Republican 41 34.45%
Democrat 24 20.17%
Liberal 11 9.24%
Independent 43 36.13%

Lookin like more TOTV folks call themselves Independent.

In my experience, most folks who claim to be Idependents, aren't. It seems that it has become the style to claim in casual conversation that you are an Independent but if voting records could be checked you would find that most voted party lines in national and state elections. Local elections probably are somewhat different.
