I didn't even know Caroline Kennedy had been here. What a shame. I would have loved to have heard her speak and hear her views on some of the issues.

Party lines are starting to make me sick. They are divisive and break up families as well as constitute who your friends are. Certain party lines are divided into conservative or more liberal churches. Certain churches lean toward certain party lines. Because they are RIGHT??? So what do we do? The divisiveness of party lines is getting worse, and it always boils down to this now:

"Someone's gotta win, and someone's gotta lose."

This is what we've been seeing lately: Don't debate and above all, never "agree to disagree".....just throw lye on those of the other side and blister their face. Shut them down. Napalm the cr*p out of 'em. Silence them. Get them off the airwaves.

But the problems is, in the United States of America, as a NATION we're all supposed to be on the same team!

While one party or the other might be "winning" (keeping power and control at any cost), a whole lot of destruction of the "UNITED" States as a nation is going on. As Lincoln said, "A house divided against itself cannot stand."

And our enemies are there waiting, salivating, just licking their chops and waiting for the right time to pounce with another 9-11 or worse.

It hasn't changed since 1776 for the most part.

I agree for the most part with what's being said here. I hope those saying it now were also saying it during the two year period where only one side had complete power without checks and balances, then used it to operate with a "you gotta pass the bill to know what's in it!" attitude and what its results brought about. With that type of power you gotta expect that you're going to see some political payback, when unthetered control comes to an end, just to make the playing field even again. And don't think that this is a one sided statement; it would happen no matter which party would have full and absolute control!

I have to disagree. True there has been contentiousness and disagreement since the beginning of the nation, but the vitriol has taken on a new level of ugliness in the last 10 years or so. Representatives of either party are unable to think, speak, and act with an independent voice for fear of being ostracized by their party leaders and voted out by the electorate. The result is a government that can hardly get anything done for the good of the people, and instead simply exists to be re-elected. A pox on both thier houses.

Default Enact Ballot Box Term Limits

Had enough? Then join the chorus who will not vote for an incumbant. Eventually they will get the message, it's about us and not about them anymore.

10 years or so?? I think not!

I think back to when Clinton first ran and all the hatred I heard. Then more of the same since against him, then GW Bush.

I no longer align myself to either of the parties because I can't stand the malicious attacks from either party. One thing that has annoyed me in the last 20 or less years has been how biased the media has become. What ever happened to the Walter Cronkites?

I also wonder if Clinton had been president in the 50's/60's is he would ever had been tried for his actions with Monica?

I'm sure you mean't similar actions with a different aid. Monica Lewinski wasn't born until 7/23/73!

Clinton was a darn good president. He still is a GREAT! Whatever happens on top of the desk is more important than what happens under the desk.

Default Political persuasion?

I read frequently in TOYV that TV is overwhelmingly Republican/Conservative/Tea Party. In reading the most recent statistics in this thread I find that Republicans are only 36%- Dems and Libs=33% and Independants are Independents= 31%. Where is this majority of right wingers that I hear about so often?

It may be that you're not seeing an overwhelming number of "right-wingers" because the figures are a bit skewed by the lack of their being a conservative choice, whereas there is their counterpart - liberal.

How this could skew the figures is... if a conservative does not feel they can support the republican position, they may chose to indicate that they're independent. On the other hand liberals who feel similar about democrats have their choice available without moving to the independant catagory.

I could be wrong, but don't think we would find out for sure unless a new poll was created, and I'm not about to do that and again recycle this same old discussion for yet a third time!

Default Political poll

I'm glad to see this poll. Too many Republicans are deluding themselves, thinking there are not many Democrats here. Most are quiet because of the developer's authoritarian political control - most recently witnessed by the supression of free speech at the state budget signing at Lake Sumpter Landing. Sumter county law enforcement ordered protesting Democrats to move away from the main area of the square. I don't think they had the legal authority to make the protesters move. They were well behaved and simply holding signs to support their viewpoints. I'd love to see a good attorney step forward and explain why this was a violation of free speech!! This occurred on public property. I want law enforcement to cite the law these people were violating!!

Comments welcome. Would like to see if others agree with me. The morally bankrupt tactics of the developer and his minnions has to be challenged.
