Default Why! Don't people use blinker lights

Model T when out of production 85 years or so ago and blinker lights became standard equipment options on vehicles in the 50s. I noticed less than 30% use blinkers especially in roundabouts.

I notice traffic can back up due to right hand turns don't use the blinker light and makes entering traffic to come to complete stop. I understand left lane would use it when the intend to exit the roundabout (which majority don't either)

I use mine all the time but feel like idiot being the only one most of the time in roundabout using it. Should I join the crowd and delay traffic?

Ok what's my point? I guess it may help traffic flow and that benifits all of us! And just may prevent few accidents?

Please explain how/when you use your turn signal. I would use mine, but can't figure out when/how. If leaving the circle by turning right into an entrance to a village is pretty straight forward EXCEPT will people think you are staying in the circle and merging right with traffic and then enter the circle in front of you because you don't leave.

I don't know where you get that 30% number. It seems to me that about 90% of the drivers do use them. I question whether or not they should be used in a round about since you are not actually making a turn.

If you enter a round about at six o'clock in the right hand lane and exit it at twelve o'clock in the same lane, you have not left your lane and you have not made a turn. It's nothing more than a curve in the road.

Does Florida law say anything about this? Maybe there are special rules for turn signals in round abouts.

I was under the impression cars sold in Florida don't come equipped with turn signals by the scarce use of them I see every day.

You must drive on different highways than me? Ok I may have over estimated. I'll up it to 50%, IMO no where near 90%.

I guess you don't get it. The bend in the road has exit. It's the ones TURNING (exiting) not using they're Blinker lights. If there going straight through they're not turning (exiting) the round about.

Don't tell me you haven't been waiting to enter round about and single right lane car just turns or behind traffic stopped and left lane clear but single right lane just turns when everybody assuming he's going straight. We assume that cause no blinker light was used.

that's right, it's for the people wanting to enter the circle, and the people behind them waiting also. It sometimes makes difference being they only have to yield knowing you are turning by using you blinker light.

On he other hand, do you 100% trust the driver with his directional on to actually do what his signal intends to show? Especially carts, where those that know how to turn them on seldom seem to know how to shut them off.

on this one. Why would you ever assume someone's intentions based on a turn signal, or lack thereof?

They come with turn signals-but you can't operate them and text at the same time.

I can’t speak for roundabouts, as I don’t know when to use a turn signal in one of those. Hopefully, I’ll learn if I ever get the chance to live there. As for not using turn signals in general, it’s a national problem. And it’s always been one of my pet peeves. Here in WA I would say, at most, 10% signal their turn.

The only discussion I can recall from drivers-ed, during my senior year of HS, pertains to turn signals. Teacher says, always use turn signals even if you’re on a highway and there isn’t another car for 3 miles. Student says, why would you do that? Teacher: why wouldn’t you? Forgetting to signal is a reason, we have all done it. However, there is never an excuse for not signaling a turn.

That whole roundabout thing, I have no idea.
