This is straight from the sticky above "How to navigate roundabouts" (which I guess few have ever bothered to click on):
"When you have passed the last exit before the one you want, use your right-turn signal and continue to use it through your exit." I am one of the 5%!!

Often people from a different entrance than me rush into the right lane and may not realize that I will be legally exiting from the inside lane based on where I entered. If folks would just pay attention to the giant lane signs on approach it would solve a lot of problems. So many enter in the inside lane and cut off the outside driver to exit at the first exit. |

My turn signals don't stay on consistently in roundabouts. If I use them, I have to keep my hand on the signal lever to keep the turn signal on. I think it has to do with the steering wheel turning in the opposite direction of the signal direction coupled with the automatic disengage mechanism of the turn signal.

Are you including those who leave their signals on for that eventual turn. That has to bring up the 30%

My occupation taught me to be consistent in following the rules of the road irrespective of place or time. so if I was out in the boondocks at 4:00 AM and approaching an intersection with a stop sign, I would stop. If turning I would signal, if it were a four lane and changing lanes I'd signal for a lane change. Staying true to these habits makes it more likely that a driver will remain in compliance.
At round-a-bouts I signal my intentions. As I approach my gate at a right-a-bout i signal that I'll be turning right into the gate's entrance I do all that and when another driver annoys me I never resort to extending my middle finger. ![]() |

I cant tell you how many times i've pulled out in front of somebody that had their blinker on, but did not mean it. Probly us old people cant hear the blinkers clicking noise. Turns entering into and in circles are usually more gradual than a normal 90 degree turn, often the blinkers do not self cancel. Also, some blinkers do not 'take' when trying to turn them on when you are in the middle of circle, sort of turning all the time, so they self cancel. Therefore, I use my signals when they will work, and I TOTALLY ignore all other peoples signals. |

That only when you in the left lane thing in roundabout. No excuses for the first right hand turn in roundabout. When my steering wheel shifts right My hand hits the blinker light. Too bad there not more aggressive law enforcement. Few tickets for not signaling will soon correct the problem.

I recommend that when you get in that roundabout you just keep a wide open eye and get there before they do.
