For the record, it depends upon in which District one resides. The Architectural Review Manual for Districts 13, 14, & 15 has this: “The following is intended as a partial list of lawn ornaments: any man made statute or figure, wind chimes, plastic or silk flowers, windmill, pinwheels, train sets, deer, geese, flamingos or any other animal or human figures.”

I love my expanded bird cage and lanai. We spend many hours out back on it. Across the street they have wind chimes….a couple of them. Although they are very nice, I find them very annoying. The neighbor next door asked them to remove them for the same reason, they live closer. They did not. Also annoying my privacy is one of those water things that run all day/night…and we hear water….all the time, even when sleeping with the windows open. I dont mention it to the neighbors, I try to accommodate what they like…BUT I honestly wish everyone would think about their neighbors before doing things that impact them. I deal with it, it’s not the end of the world, but I would appreciate it if they removed it. Just trying to be neighborly…..

Personally, I love them. I have a few. I hang most in our enclosed lanai, they sound quietly when the doors are open. The biggest one is hung outside the front door, near my kitchen window. Only I hear this one. I did ask my neighbors when I moved in and only one minded. The key is to be thoughtful to your neighbors. Be connected to them so you can talk out your differences. You already seem to understand this. Welcome to TV.

I was thinking same thing. If you like the sound, hang them inside where YOU can hear them and not make neighbors hear them. The sound travels for blocks here.
I do appreciate you caring about the neighbors. |

The fact that the OP asked shows that they do care, but does anyone really need a CDD rule to keep them from annoying their neighbor? You're not on the farm in Kansas any more. The houses here are close together.
Any unnecessary noise should be reason enough to have some consideration for those near you. The daily dose of (necessary) leaf blowers and string trimmers is bad enough. |

Our lots are too small to have wind chimes. We have a lot of breeze here and it would be constant. Nothing worse than watching tv on your lanai or taking a nap and hearing the distracting sound. Please don’t do it.

Someone else should not have to listen to your noise. How about I play music loud enough for my neighbors to hear all day long. I may like it but my neighbors would soon get tired of it.

His answer is yes, he will hang them, unless convinced otherwise. That is why he asked on this website.
I believe you already knew this answer, why ask on this website? |
