Default Pool Tables in Club Houses

The brown cloth on the Pool tables is not ideal. It should be replaced with a green service cloth. Service cloth is a very durable cloth. With the brown cloth, you cannot get the action on the balls unless you shoot very hard, and then it's difficult. Something should be done about the jaws ( corners ) of the pockets. They are to restrictive. Maybe the billiard balls are not a good enough quality to get the proper action. Being there will be work done on the tables, have it done right.

Offer your suggestions to the district administrators. Maybe the national title holders that live and play and teach in TV never thought to mention the defects.

Default tables pool

ALL the pool tables in the rec centers are covered with Simonis cloth, this is the top of the line. Comes in various colors ,colors do not impact the roll the balls..The pockets width is concerning, aggravating most of the time, has to do with the cut of the pockets. These are really recreational tables..
the rec. dept are fully aware of the situation but have to appeal to the masses and the décor of the rec center....

Any color table top would be fine up here in the new recreation centers (VRC's) above 466 at Tierra or El Santiago...in fact just a couple of tables in either of them would be outstanding.

Try playing on the snooker tables for while! Then go back to the nice 8 ball tables, you will find them much more playable and the pockets very loose!

Simonis cloth is as good as it gets. The best color in my opinion is what is called "tournament blue"; the balls show up so much better on that color.

When the tables at La Hacienda were being recovered a man that I know who spent his life setting up and servicing pool tables met with the rec department people and showed them exactly what had to be done. I believe that he also offered to do the work at no cost.

He was told that these are only recreational tables and that it's not necessary to have them perfect.

The best tables in The Villages, by the way, are the old crappy looking tables at the Silver Lake Rec Center.

And I agree that the color of the cloth has nothing to do with anything. Excellent billiard table cloth is available in many colors.

And as far a snooker tables go, yes, the pockets are smaller, but so are the balls. Also the corners of the pockets are rounded making the pockets more forgiving.

I think there should be easels provided for use in all art rooms.

No I don't.

Are there any snooker tables anywhere in The Villages? I miss that game and have not come across it in some time

Isn't this price to refelt per table almost double the average cost? I just researched briefly. And why only 1 bid? This doesn't sound on the up and up. Plenty of companies in Orlando would love to get the business. Anyone have any insight?

There was one at the Paradise Rec Center but it was removed in the renovation to make room for an expanded card room.

The 10' one that was previously at Silver Lake (not Paradise) Rec Center was moved to Chula Vista as part of their remodeling. There is a 12' one at Sterling Heights -- good luck with the lighting there though!
