Well done on doing the toast and telling us on the forum.

It is really great (nearly said 'Fabulous' then) that some of you 'Absent Friends' joined us in the toast and posted it on the thread.

That just shows everyone what a great, friendly and fun group we all are, with the sense of comaraderie, whereever we might be residing at the time.

As well as saying goodbye and the hugs and kisses, we had two presentations, one to our neighbourhood cleanup champion, Mike, who was awarded the 'Order of the Can' for his selfless devotion to the cleanliness of the neighbourhood when he is walking Beau.

Lady Wendy was supposed to read out the citation to Mike, but didn't bring her reading glasses and could'nt see a thing and when asked why she hadn't brought them replied "I can see the Wine Glass well enough to see when it needs refilling"

The Lady Mayoress stepped in and read the citation wonderfully.

The second one was to Hotrodgirl, who was awarded a security certificate to present to her new friend Mick, who saw first hand the craziness of this new neighbourhood.

We are trully in awe of this wonderful place, you will all be missed and we will be back as soon as we can
Ditto on that--and it was nice to see everyone again and be made to feel so welcome and at home. Safe travels next week and come back "home" real soon as we'll miss you both!

On Thursday, Janice and I hosted an 82nd birthday for the youngest Mum in Gilchrist, Sally. She turned 82 years old on May 9th and we actually surprised her with a party. I've attached some pictures to celebrate the event.

Wonderful get together. Great friends. A few libations. A bit of food. What more could you ask for?

Oh, not to worry. We now have security cameras strategically mounted to monitor the upcoming TP shortage that's bound to hit town when Calc comes to town and to see how much she tries to sneak into her home!!!

Default Pics of the Tin Can Man

Thanks to Pat Lauer for the picture taken when Mike Roberts was inducted into the Order of The Tin Can.

That's just one of the things I love about this place. Someone is always bound to have a camera!!!

So here is the end of the ceremony featuring Lady Wendy, The Mayor, The Tin Can Man, The Lady Mayoress and Sir John.

Default Thanks neighbors!

Well - the first week after closing is over. It went by so fast with all the "projects"- blinds, gutters, appliance delivery, furniture deliveries, etc.
We even started painting the rooms .....

Sorry we missed the celebration on Saturday- sounds like it was another great time.

Happy Mother's Day to all the great MOM's i have met this week.

Default It's been a long time!

Fellow Gillylanders:

Nancy and I have been so busy with her dads house that we have been totally absent of checking the forum. It looks like you all are having a great time in our absence!!!

Mike congratulations on your award, we are duly impressed. Andy you need to chose your battles more carefully with the alligators.

We can't wait to get back to Gillyland to see what all has transpired since we left at the Ed of April. Looking forward to seeing all of you who we have met and those of you who we have not yet met.

Have a great summer and we hope to be back the end of July or early August.

Please keep the lights on for us.

You have a deal...there seems to be a lot of nice people moving in and around our little corner of the village world, isn't there?

Default New Neighbors on Dafoe (210.01)

Welcome to Sean & Freddie! Most of you will remember them from my story several months ago about being in the garage piddling around when I heard a woman calling from the street saying she was looking for the mayor. Sean & Freddie were up from Tampa checking the place out and ended up on our lanai for about 90 minutes and also meeting Terry & Teryl.

The fun for them has begun. The preliminary stakes are in the ground. It'll be fun to see what happens next!

Here's a few pics to kick off the build!!!

We need to find a lawn company pretty quickly. Many people, including our wonderful neighbors Mary and Jim, use Stellar. When I spoke to the company today, they wanted to sell me a big package of services. Besides mowing, weeding, edging, and pest control, what other things do you consider must-haves? Is their big package that gives us 14 months for the price of 12 a good idea? Thanks for any suggestions.

Barbara
