Yesterday, on the roads in the Villages I noticed quite a few candidates for eye surgery. Seems there were dozens of them driving with their eyes closed.

So happy for you! I’m doing some research right now for mine. I wish you had it here so you can recommend your doc. Anyone out there have any recommendations? Boomer did you go to a plastic surgeon? I was told by my optician to go to an ocular surgeon.

That’s what I did. I’d recommend I’ve, but he is in Mobile, Al.

Default I had the eye lids surgery done - upper and lower back in 2005 IN COSTA RICA

I did it! I finally did it!

I had my eyelids done.

And I do not have that look of perpetual surprise. I do not look weirdly alert.

The bruising is almost gone. The swelling is almost gone. I always heal fast so I am.

I am still doing the frozen peas routine, just not as often. Longer than the instructions said though. And although I guess I do not have to sleep propped up now that the week is over, I probably still will for a few more days. (I think I must be trying to be one of those over-achiever types.)

By the weekend, I might be ready to nonchalantly appear in public. Wearing sunglasses to social things indoors though might just look suspicious.

I think I am supposed to wait a month before I am allowed to put on mascara and eyeliner. I will know for sure next week at the post-op visit. Anybody reading this want to volunteer how long they had to wait to put on a little eye makeup?

It looks like my only regret will be that I did not do this sooner.

I did not do this in TV. I am in my hometown right now where I know the territory and could ask at least 5 people who to go to.

But I thought maybe others here might want to share their blepharoplasty experiences and recommendations. Nobody can see us here so nobody can scrutinize the work. I love being anonymous on TOTV.

Boomer (lookin’ just like my senior picture. . .hmmmm, maybe I should change my high school hairstyle though. )
I ahd the eyelids uper and lower done in Costa Rica back in 2005. Best thing i ever did. It was the finest surgeon on Costa Rica - His grandfather started Cosmetic Surgery in CR. IT COST ME $500.00 FOR BOTH EYELIDS AND is still about the same price.
IT TOOK 25 YEARS OFF MY FACE.

When I had this done years ago I was told to eat pineapple (fresh or canned) for two weeks before and after to minimize bruising. It worked great.

Hey, Boomer…. I, too, had both lids done… 30 YRS AGO when I turned 50!!! And guess what… 30 years later they STILL look like I just did it! Like you, they never looked like I’d had anything done except that all the extra skin was gone. Looks so natural. I had mine done in my hometown in west Los Angeles. Excellent doctor who had done a couple of my friends. As you probably know, almost everyone in southern California has had SOME kind of plastic surgery. It’s considered normal out there.

I honestly don’t remember how long it took to get through the healing stages; I just know the whole thing was worth it. Happy you’re happy with it!

Default Eyelid surgery

Is there anyone here who can recommend a surgeon here in or around the villages for this surgery?

Thank you for bravely sharing! Could you share an approximate cost?
Congrats!

I was awake when mine were done. Every time the doctor removed eyelid fat I made him show it to me. FYI, it looks just like yellow chicken fat.

Hi Boomer. I just got the ok to have this surgery done. I am checking out plastic surgeons in The Villages. Can you or anyone else recommend a Dr? Thank so much.

Dr. Latif Hamed does this procedure in Ocala. He teaches laser, surgical and medical eye care to other doctors. I figured if he teaches he must know what he is doing. He did warn me not to expect a great difference as he goes more for the natural look. My eyes don't look closed in photos now. It has been quite a few years since I had it done. His phone number is 352-237-0090
