Really? Aren't those words pretty close to those inscribed on the bullet casings that killed Unitedhealthcare Ceo in NYC on December 4th? If so, might the book have incited the reaction by the gunman. Whole thing is so tragic.

What's tragic is that so many are harmed or die waiting for insurance approval.
All started in 1973 when hospitals were turned into profit centers at patients expense. 1 in 3 doctors has seen prior auth lead to serious adverse event | American Medical Association |

Most likely, and i am speculating, there was an insurance denial, and the loss of a loved one. With the highest denial rate in the industry, the angered pool of people is expected to be quite large. The rate may be as high as 30%, that's alot of people to disappoint. The gunman was also not a professional, so pointing to personal versus business is most likely. However, if the shooter was black market hired, still unknown, the revengeful person had to avoid the black market squealers and FBI informants. Again, pointing to personal versus hired hitman. The CEO was also potentially, hard data sources not published, under investigation for insider trading and monopolistic practices. I doubt the vengeful person knew that fact, as these are usually not public during the investigation. . The post about the book was interesting given all the insurance denials here in TV, and FL, such that the reviews were positive in helping individuals fight the insurance companies. . the topic of insurance and corporate behaviors are all very similar. . . though most people in TV are struggling with hurricane damage recovery. |

If I understood the original posting correctly, this has to do with why Insurance Companies Don't Pay Claims and What You Can Do About It, not the murder of the CEO of UHC in New York. If you look little further down on this site under the banner "Recent Health Insurance news", you will see a number of opinions why the murder took place and its ties to UHC. I will repeat my comment here that I post on that topic.
This murder took place just a couple of days ago and there are other plausible reasons why this took place other than his connection with UHC. I'm not saying it is not but why not give it time for the authorities to capture who is responsible and true reason behind it. |

Don't have any idea if this book motivated the shooter. For all we know, he could have etched those casings to create a false motive and throw off investigators. I do not sympathize with the shooter. However, these are indeed the tactics of the insurance industry to maximize profits by minimizing claims payouts. |

You can watch this movie on the subject of the insurance companies and how this has been going on for many years. The movie stars Matt Damon you can find it on your search by clicking on The Rainmaker. The movie is an eye-opener for sure.

Yes, we read it at the suggestion of our private adjuster, who was helping us with an insurance claim that was denied. It’s very informative, and we sent copies to our kids for future reference. I recommend it! We ultimately won our claim, after three years of fighting with the insurance company. |

They are talking about all the Medicare advantage plans: deny, deny, long enough where the user decides not to do the surgery so that’s how the advantage insurance company makes money
