BIBLE VERSES ABOUT VALLEY OF DEATH

Well about those roundabouts! And Publix when they had toilet paper during the COVID scare and the doors had yet to open.

I hunt, and when people give me crap about it:
Genesis 1:28
God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

MICAH 6:8: He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Brief reference to roundabouts.

Deuteronomy 2:3

"You have encircled this mountain long enough. Turn northward."

My favorite is Deed Restriction 4:15..

Render to Morse what is Morse’s and to God what is God’s

Thou shalt cheerfully pay thou amenity fees.

I have this wall-plaque:

"Yea, though I walk through the shadow of the valley of death, I will fear no evil; for I am the meanest son-of-a-_____ in the valley".

The Bible makes for fascinating reading, often for reasons OTHER than religious.

I find the account of Elijah on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18:16-45) particularly fascinating. In summary, at the time of the account Israel was suffering from a severe drought. Elijah basically challenged the prophets of Baal to a sort of spiritual duel: both he and they would climb Mount Carmel, each build an altar and sacrifice a bull. The Baal folks would be allowed to light up their bull, but Elijah wouldn't. Instead he would call down the "fire of God" to consume his bull. Baal's prophets dutifully did what they were told and lit up their bull sometime before noon, but Elijah waited. And waited. And waited. Finally he built his altar apparently just before evening, laid his bull on top of it, and then upped the stakes (and taunting the prophets of Baal at the same time) by digging a trench around his altar and filling it with water. Finally Elijah got to praying and sure enough, the "fire of God" came down and touched off his altar. Hallelujah!

But...

1) Severe drought.
2) High place.
3) Late afternoon
4) Water
5) Huge rainstorm afterward

Whatever else he may have been, Elijah was apparently a pretty darn good weatherman/scientist!

I also like verses Genesis 2:20 thru 2:23 which states that Adam did not have a "helper suitable for him", so God pulled a rib from Adam and created a woman Eve.

So I guess Eve was Adam's second wife. I always wondered what happened to his first wife.
Lilith was Adam's first wife, and his wife after he ditched Eve when they were kicked out of Eden.

From Lilith - Biblical Archaeology Society :

Quote:
In Genesis 1 living things appear in a specific order; plants, then animals, then finally man and woman are made simultaneously on the sixth day: “Male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27). In this version of human origins, man and woman (“humankind” in the New Revised Standard Version) are created together and appear to be equal. In Genesis 2, however, man is created first, followed by plants, then animals and finally woman. She comes last because in the array of wild beasts and birds that God had created, “no fitting helper was found” (Genesis 2:20). The Lord therefore casts a deep sleep upon Adam and returns to work, forming woman from Adam’s rib.
I kinda think Exodus 21:7 is fun. From the King James bible:
Quote:
And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.
In fact, Exodus and Leviticus are chock full of twisted depraved, cruel, viscious, and sexually perverted things. Gotta love the Bible. The last porn-torture-horror book allowed in public schools.
