Default Wiring advice needed

Any retired telephone engineers out there?

I have been trying for months to get CenturyLink to sort out my appalling internet connection, which keeps dropping out for a few minutes.

They claim that it is not them, but my internal telephone wiring that is at fault. I know that my cable wiring is fine as, until recently, I used it for DirecTV.

What I should like to know is: can I get hold of telephone-coax converters so that I can connect my external Centurylink box to my cable wiring, and my internal modem to my cable wiring?

CenturyLink claim they can't connect to my coax, but that gives me 90% confidence that it can actually be done. Just not by those jokers.

Thank you

I am confused, you are using a WIRED internet connection in your house? My suggestion, if your equipment supports it, put in a wireless (Wlan) router off your modem. While the telephone wires look similar to Ethernet wires, they are not the same, and it may be contributing to your problems. Also, the RJ11 (telephone) jacks are similar but not the same as RJ45 (Ethernet jacks).
Black Box, L-Com, and a few other electronic supply stores have coax to Ethernet converters. I do not recall the price.
Good luck, hope this helps.

Call Paul Clarke, 352.255.5211. He does excellent work and reasonable too.

He ran a new phone line from my kitchen area, to the bedroom, for $50.

He can repair and or replace your connection.

Thank you, good people.

To clarify, to avoid using my telephone wiring, I should like CenturyLink to connect outside to my cable wiring (where the DirecTV dish used to connect) and I shall connect my modem inside to my cable wiring. Basically, I'll just be using the two wires in the coax instead of two of the wires in the telephone cabling.

Did CenturyLink in fact test the wiring in your home and find it faulty? Do you have a fiber connection outside or is it a twisted pair connection? Sounds like they are trying to pass the buck...
