I'm right there with ya. My wife has been cutting my hair for at least 20 years...#2 guard for me. When mine gets too long to "comb" with a towel, it's too long. I do, tho, get a chuckle out of guys griping about a $20 haircut, when our better halves drop a C-note at the beauty shop!

I've had the two worst haircuts in my life at Brandi's. I went back the 2nd time to give them the benefit of the doubt and had a different barber with the same results. I have a pretty simple clipper haircut, #2 on top and #1 on the sides and they screwed that up. I ended up buying the Wahl clippers and my wife does it now.

In defense of Cals, I’ve been a customer for 16 years, they are in The Villages. For that “privilege” the developer charges high rent PLUS a percentage of their profit. Do you get a good haircut? Give them a break.

When I first tried it, I thought if it's bad it will grow back. But to my surprise it was a nice cut and I found a place that charges what it should for a guys cut.
Yep, my hubby is happy with his $8 cut, and as a pretty fussy gal I think it looks great. My only complaint is he doesn’t go every 4-6 weeks due to laziness (about his hair, not in general), so it gets a bit shaggy in between cuts.

$18 seems quite reasonable to me. That said, I use the FlowBee, haven't paid for a haircut in about 45 years. Takes me about 5 or 6 minutes, and never need an appointment. Don't laugh, George Clooney uses it too. You may or may not like his politics, but you've got to admit that his hair looks nice.

I purchased clippers, and have been cutting my own hair for donkeys years.
No2 on top, No 1 up the side, clean up the edges.
Takes 10–15 minutes, and saves $,$$$ over the years, and get to generously tip myself!

I do a buzz cut for my husband. I'm not really good at it and miss spots that I have to keep going over and over again. I don't mind doing it for him and he's happy with it.

I cut my own hair in the mirror for free. I used to shave it in the summer (also free.......I don't much care about my appearance - a losing cause at this point.)

Never can understand how barbers can make a living charging the fees they do. Haircuts for $8…thats ridiculous

Surprised no one mention Big Al's before now.

Q.). What does a cheap haircut look like?
A.). A cheap haircut.
Some people just don't care how tgey look. If you are fortunite enough to have a decent head of hair at our age, find a hair stylist in Orlando or Ocala who make the most of your appearance.

That's how the vast majority of Retail Leasing works. Fixed Rent + % of Gross Sales (not "profit").

Big Al's has significantly more reviews than Cal's and his overall rating on Google is the same or higher than Cal's.

(I've never been to Big Al's, but I'm going to try it out.)

I have been giving my barber at Cal’s $20 even when the price was $15. Standing on your feet all day and cutting hair isn’t a picnic.
