Because of a few "crazies" the rest of us who are as sane as the rest of you are offended by the biased, incorrect labeling of the political forum!

I agree. It's a forum, and we're supposed to be able to talk about what we want. What's important to one might not be to another, but everyone's entitled. And if you Don't Care, don't read! Or read and move on.

Cute Equadog.
A Forum often has funny comments that some take as snarky, but that's the nature of a Forum, and what keeps it interesting.
Perhaps posters simply have a different sense of humor. Many come from different regions of North America.
The Mod's try hard to delete offensive posts, however a poster also needs to not take posts too seriously. In my humble opinion.

Like and Dislike buttons or thumbs-up and thumbs-down buttons tally and show the number of people who react one way or the other. Posters chased out by bullies ought to see that often, many others are with them but won't stick their face out to be slashed publicly by commenting.

And I'm sorry if you feel "slashed publicly" when you post.
My point, if you're willing to see it, was that the emoticons do not tally and show agreement or disagreement as other blogs do when having Like and Dislike buttons, or thumbs up and down buttons. The only thing the worshiping and mocking emoticons do is bolster certain "key" people, and put down many others.

Plus, Mikeod is right about a "Who Cares?" button. People state their opinion--the purpose of a blog--and they get attacked if it's not the opinion of the ringleaders. It's cliquish.

Personally I would never want to be a moderator. Having said that, I would like to thank everyone who takes on this responsibility for the rest of us. I may not agree with all of their decisions but that is just a small price to pay. THANK YOU MODERATORS.

I want sound effects. People cheering or booing, maybe a rim shot Welcome to Instant Rimshot, grumbling, "you're fired", or a mweep mwa.

Could you make that happen, moderator?

When I was a media specialist I had a hidden speaker by the charge out desk. If I or someone else said something I thought was funny, I could push a hidden button for a laugh track. It was very silly and very popular for a little while.

I also kept a drop ceiling, ceiling vent nearby behind the desk. Whenever someone started complaining about something, I would interrupt, pull out my "prop" and ask them if they would like to "vent". That was popular too and more often than not turned the situation around.

I agree. I also like bozo, lamebrain, dimwit, nitwit, dumbbell, idiot, fool, imbecile, and occasionally, when the circumstances really call for it axxhole. It never occurs to me, however, to use those terms with any person on TOTV. At least most of the time!

The problem is that once you start discussing politics, sensible conversation often goes out the window. Name calling and making fun of people seeps in very quickly.

Besides, we have a political section for that if you're so inclined.

Unfortunately, many people have a favorite cause or issue. Then, if a politician favors that cause, he could be Attila the Hun, and still win votes. That is why politicians know how to divide and conquer. Therefore, the forum participants are inclined to state their case, and never give in.

Someone once said something like "at a social gathering never discuss religion or politics." Fortunately we can choose to turn off the noise by not going to the "politics forum".
