My condolences his family, his friends and to all Americans. He served our great nation with honor, courage and integrity. He will be sorely missed.

Condolences to the McCain family and friends.

I agree. I don't know if it is callousness or lack of integrity. John McCain always put America first, and worked with politicians on both sides of the aisle, something we are sorely lacking today. RIP John McCain.

It is becoming typical in our country to now say anything about anyone with no conscience about truth, and I think this poster, whose first reaction was to tear down a great man at his death.

John McCain made America great every day of his entire life and he did it with true love of country, family and service.

Everyone should watch video of him during the 2008 campaign when someone in a town hall made a personal comment about McCain' opponent, Barack OBama and he stopped the town hall and the speaker to explain how wrong the man was, and explain what character was all about.

A cheap shot, and again allow my opinion to stand as long as this persons cheap shot has stood.

Bucco, with all my heart I thank you sincerely for your post. I could not believe the filth that people were alluding to on here this morning, it troubles me deeply to think we live in a world where people will believe anything fed to them especially if it is against someone who cannot defend themselves.

I grew up in a time when politicians crossed the aisle for the good of the people, John McCain is close to being the last man to do so. He will be deeply missed by people of all political persuasions.

Of course, John McCain is being lauded by politicians all around the world. I was impressed with this comment from the former President:

John McCain and I were members of different generations, came from completely different backgrounds, and competed at the highest level of politics. But we shared, for all our differences, a fidelity to something higher – the ideals for which generations of Americans and immigrants alike have fought, marched, and sacrificed. We saw our political battles, even, as a privilege, something noble, an opportunity to serve as stewards of those high ideals at home, and to advance them around the world. We saw this country as a place where anything is possible – and citizenship as our patriotic obligation to ensure it forever remains that way.

Few of us have been tested the way John once was, or required to show the kind of courage that he did. But all of us can aspire to the courage to put the greater good above our own. At John’s best, he showed us what that means. And for that, we are all in his debt. Michelle and I send our most heartfelt condolences to Cindy and their family....

I think the late Senator should be given the CMOH, for his actions in WWII. RIP, true American hero.

Good post Bucco, my friend. McCain may well have been President but for Karl Rove's dirty tricks in the 2000 primary campaign, and his unfortunate pick as a running mate in 2008.

There is a time and place for everything. A eulogy thread is the time to say something good and to say goodbye. Not to start a debate or make a dig.

My bet is you will never mention it to him at all nor do you find anything wrong with it. YES, I am angry.......this attitude in this country has to change. USE this REAL great American as an inspiration to change this hate filled dialogue that we are reduced to.
I missed it entirely. I bet most did. I had no idea what songbird meant and after it was alluded to looked it up and still don't know.

In my opinion, very few want to fight and hurt others or watch it happen. Hate is the reason for wars that imprisoned someone like John McCain. He was tortured and suffered for his country.

I think of him as a good man, a strong man, a man not afraid to voice his convictions and stand for his beliefs. A man who was loved by his family and people who knew him and made waves that caused people to watch and to listen and to learn. He was brave and dedicated to this country. He was not always understood, but he didn't stand down. He was respected by most people in this country. He will be missed and his name and life will be respected and he will go down in history as a patriot and a brave man.

That is my opinion. I have read yours. Carry on.

We have removed several posts in this thread that became orphans when the OP edited his initial comment. Others were removed because they were veiled political comments. And others were clearly directed at a member.
