We had a sleep number bed in the Tiffin Motorhome we owned. We found it extremely comfortable since we could adjust the firmness. I found with a softer setting I had no aches and pains when I woke up in the morning. We now have a sleep number bed in our home in TV. Best bed we've ever had.

We appreciate our Sleep Number bed so much that after 20 years we still have ours up north and bought a new king size one for TV's! We two had a remote problem as well as a leaking mattress cell and both were replaced after 3 years of use at no charge. The newer compressor is more quite and the remote is designed better (easier to read and use). When we travel we always end up wishing we had our mattress as we generally have a restless night of sleep and I have a sore back. Do look at both and then make you decision. We did for the one in TV and decided against the foam as it is hot and Not adjustable as I like a firmer mattress and my wife a lesser firm nights sleep!

Four years ago we bought a mattress from Bed-In-A-Box. Paid a little less than $600 for a queen, and just got a box spring (just a foundation, no springs) from Sam's Club. Very happy with it. It came FedEx compressed into a fairly large and heavy box. It is a firm mattress, which we like. I see that they now have many more models at higher prices.

I can't speak about a sleep number but we love our Tempurpedic. We have a Serta memory foam in our guest room and it sleeps very warm. There are different firmness levels and the softer ones retain more body heat.

I have a soft-side water bed topped with a memory foam topper. There are dual water mattresses encased in quilted covers. You can adjust the firmness with the amount of water in them. Just right for me!

Another vote here for Tempurpedic.

We got a Serta I-Comfort. It has a top layer that is supposed to "wick out" the heat. Wife loves it, but I wish we had gotten one level softer. It is substantially less costly than Tempurpedic. We were also given the option that if after 3 months we didn't like it, the store would take it back and we could get something else. The 3 months was because it takes some getting used to. ( tho' I don't think there would be a rebate if a less costly mattress was chosen) We did try the number, but never could get it quite where we wanted it.

What kind of comment is that? Sounds like you have something against sleep number but didn't like the choice you made either.Sounds like you made the wrong choice.

We have had a tempurpedic-like bed and have had it for several years and just purchased two for TV. The heat was never a problem "up north", but for TV we purchased the serta I-cool. We did try the sleep number beds and really disliked them. It sorta was like a water bed (like years ago) except it is air. Having said that I have family who love the sleep number.

Every person sleeps differently, so I do recommend that you try out each bed for yourself. Take your time and lay in each bed for 20 minutes or so because this is an important and expensive purchase.

My husband and I have had a Tempurpedic for 10+ years. When we purchase a new mattress in the next couple of years (when we move to TV full time) we will buy another Tempurpedic mattress. We love it! My in-laws had a Sleep number and hated it, now have a Tempurpedic and love it.

I had a sleep number bed for several years and really did not like it. My wife at the time, preferred her side soft and squishy, I on the other hand, preferred very firm. The problem (as others have stated) was the dividing line. I often had nightmares of falling off of a cliff. It seems like I had to hang on to my side so that I wouldn't fall into the valley of death. Ha, sounds funny but it's true. My vote is for anything other than sleep number, however...everyone is different. Kinda like saying a certain movie is not worth watching.

Sold mattresses for many years. I prefer a regular style no flip mattress set (mid to upper mid price)
We have a Simmons but Serta or any of the other brands are good. Remember you generally get what you pay for. Too cheap is bad too expensive and you are paying for fluff.

Another vote for Relax in Comfort. The salesperson spent an hour with us explaining every aspect of the bed even though we told her we had already gotten our beds (from Saatva.com) Love my bed by the way But I would have bought their bed if I had wanted an adjustable bed. Super comfortable.
