Come on now, I don't think anybody is losing sleep over the minor annoyance of having the King's English slain. I'm proud that I can mispell misspell. You have to override spellcheck but it can be done.
Did you think Parker was being serious? I thought he/she was joking.

The rules of the English language constantly evolve with usage, and I believe that's as it should be. Otherwise we would still be saying thee and thy. Although I do object to The Ox adding the insipid Rachael Ray's EVOO to the dictionary.

Peter Jennings... I'm happy to be lumped with him as one of the "snuckers."
Cyndy, you are so dear...
I know, I know about evolving linguistics, I just wish it were slow enough that I don't have to watch. Here I am standing on a rule about -ly on adverbs and they change it BECAUSE more people screw it up than get it right. If they could change it SLOW--LY, after I'm gone???

About thee and thy, I adore my King James Bible, and am from a Tennessee lineage where the old timers still said "tisn't and t'wern't nary"...
I would love to hear someone say "I love ye." No one ever said that to me but my mother.

If there's a word that grates Little Miss Red Pen all over, and there is, it's "snuck."

You didn't grow up having snuck around!

I do agree with you about grammar evolving too quickly. But I'm glad for some changes, for instance, being able to end a sentence with a preposition--in some cases, such as, "Where did you come from?"

My son (also a grammar aficionado) loves this work-around... "Where did you come from?" "Don't end a sentence with a preposition!" "Okay, where did you come from, b**ch?"

Oh your son, I love...
it's enjoyable to manipulate the words so as to satisfy the preposition rule, as in:
"That is more than up with which I will put"...

Now we have to add run on sentences to proper spelling. Thanks a lot!
