I used to get in trouble with my aunt for saying "It looks like rain." |

I know, I know about evolving linguistics, I just wish it were slow enough that I don't have to watch. Here I am standing on a rule about -ly on adverbs and they change it BECAUSE more people screw it up than get it right. If they could change it SLOW--LY, after I'm gone??? About thee and thy, I adore my King James Bible, and am from a Tennessee lineage where the old timers still said "tisn't and t'wern't nary"... I would love to hear someone say "I love ye." No one ever said that to me but my mother. If there's a word that grates Little Miss Red Pen all over, and there is, it's "snuck." |

![]() I do agree with you about grammar evolving too quickly. But I'm glad for some changes, for instance, being able to end a sentence with a preposition--in some cases, such as, "Where did you come from?" My son (also a grammar aficionado) loves this work-around... "Where did you come from?" "Don't end a sentence with a preposition!" "Okay, where did you come from, b**ch?" |

it's enjoyable to manipulate the words so as to satisfy the preposition rule, as in: "That is more than up with which I will put"... |

Now we have to add run on sentences to proper spelling. Thanks a lot!

Love it when panhandlers are out of "werk".
