If I can get the point, I'm happy and don't care if the poster was an "A" student in their grammar classes. I appreciate their knowledge of the topic in general. I hope this thread doesn't discourage anyone from participating. Thanks to those who expressed themselves with humor.

The very word reminds me what was once an ironical, common mistake....of course you know that the word "err" was once only correctly pronounced "ur" and never "air"?
And remember that horrible year when "collectables" with an "a" was added to the dictionary? It's pathetic; it's an outrage; to what is the world coming? What to do?
Trust me, friends of the Red Pen, when you cannot rely on the Oxford English Dictionary to hold a line, you are alone in the world.
Wait just a minute! I was an editor, and I say "snuck." Even Merriam-Webster doesn’t make the distinction in its online definition and fully recognizes “snuck” as a past tense and past participle of “sneak."

The rules of the English language constantly evolve with usage, and I believe that's as it should be. Otherwise we would still be saying thee and thy. Although I do object to The Ox adding the insipid Rachael Ray's EVOO to the dictionary.

Peter Jennings... I'm happy to be lumped with him as one of the "snuckers."

One thing I had to mention is on the show Judge Judy this week a litigant came up with a new word "tooken". She kept saying it over and over and Judge Judy stopped her and said there is no such word as tooken. It was a funny moment.
I see what you did there.. functioning to fast. Google search has 595,000 hits for "tooken"

None of this will hopefully make you even hesitate for a moment the next time someone posts about Lake Sumpter.

Remember, punctuation can make the difference........

I am confused (not the first time) is it dog poop or dog pooped since all dog poop is really in the past tense?

Ahh I feel better now that poop has been introduced to this thread.

Wishing everyone a happy day
