Default Dealer Add-ons

When that happens, insist they show you their internal service department invoice. My car had ‘mud guards’ added and their listed cost was $499. OEM on manufacturer Web site was $79. That means their service department would have charged sales department the wholesale price and sales is charging customers grossly inflated profit. EVERYTHING above the sales tax line item is negotiable.

You can shop and negotiate all online once you know what you want. You will get a better deal outside the Village area. Orlando or Tampa

My suggestion is to steer clear of the dealerships in Leesburg and Ocala. I had some comfort using a dealership in Claremont.

You should think this practice is borderline price gauging.

Why don't you just buy a real car?

The whole purpose for the dealer to install add-ons is to inflate the price and increase their profit. Negotiating these items with the dealer is pointless. I never "negotiate" with a dealer. I just tell them that I won't pay for any add-ons or dealer fees. There are other dealers who don't even try to include these items.

Costco auto program

You fill out a form on the web site. They give you the names of 3-4 nearby dealers and the estimated prices

You meet the internet manager, he gives you the fixed price for cars available in the area and you are done!

Easy, no haggling, it’s a fair price

We got an excellent price on our hybrid at Hyundai of Clermont . No added on dealer fees. Located next to Costco

Default Beware of Hyundai of Clermont

We bought a Tucson Limited in Clermont 2 years ago and traded a Lexus valued at $10,000 more than the cost of the Hyundai. You don't walk out with a check for the trade difference....we waited nearly a month and made numerous phone calls to get the check. Even worse than that is the fact that they transferred the license plate for us, but apparently cancelled the transfer an hour later so we drove an unregistered new Tucson for weeks before we discovered their deceptive practices. We didn't find out until we went to the Registry to obtain a printed title for our new car and had to get the state involved to get our check and registration straightened out. It wasn't an honest mistake, but according to the agent in Tallahassee, they wanted to sell the trade to avoid paying fees for the trade difference....guess they hoped we wouldn't find out! The State of Florida did fine them for these deceptive practices.

"You don't walk out with a check for the trade difference"???

I think that was your mistake.

At a Hyundai or Kia dealership that’s where I would go!

Hyundai of Central Florida in Clermont with very high recommendation - I have purchased two cars from them and they are the best and very honest and fair with no dealer fees. Stay away from the Jenkins Jokers!!!

Go to Holler Hyundai just north of Orlando. I had three Kia's but couldn't deal with them two years ago. I got a great deal on a new Santa Fe at Holler. Honest and nice staff.
